TO PROPHET DANIEL:
" But remember, you can genetically trace a Cohen
back to Aaron."
"SALEM!"
RA
Hi Ray;
"Do you really think that tracing genetics is going
to prove anything to anyone who has had their
'hearts hardened' by the Living God?
Haven't we seen the LORD use our own proofs
(seemingly!!) against us?
a guy named Moses and I am pretty certain he knew Aaron ...anyway ...did everything the LORD
told him, but because it was the LORD hardening
the heart...of the opposition no less...[they were
brothers]
being obedient and showing proofs is one thing...
you cannot count on. If...The Mighty One is out
to save as many as come to Him."
bye for now,
kimberly

Now Jacob and Esau were twins, fighting all the
way from the womb. Born AM 2108 (BC 1944)
The LORD said to her,
"Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you
will be separated;
one people will be stronger than the
other,
and the older will serve the younger."
[i.e. Esau serves Jacob] GEN. 25:23
When Jacob came out his hand was grasping
the heal of his brother, Esau.
Jacob means, fig."he deceives."
Eventually, Esau sold his birthright for some bread
and some lentil stew. GEN. 25:34
So Esau despised his birthright.
Isaac said, "your brother came deceitfully and took
your blessing."
Esau said, "Isn't he rightly named Jacob?" He deceived
me these two times: "He took my birthright, and now
he's taken my blessing!" (GEN. 27:35-36)
"Your dwelling will be away from the earth's richness,
away from the dew of heaven above.
You will live by the sword and you will serve your
brother.
But when you grow restless, you will throw off his
yolk from off your neck." (GEN. 27:39-40)
The mention of Esau's removal to Mount Seir follows
immediately on the mention of Isaac's death and
burial. (GEN. 35:27-29)
ABRAHAM AM 1948 (BC 2104) + 175 years =
AM 2123 (BC 1929).
[Isaac was 75 years old when Father Abraham died.]
[Jacob was 15 years old when Father Abraham died.]
ISAAC AM 2048 (BC 2004) + 180 years = AM 2228
(BC 1824)
Jacob and Esau AM 2108 (BC1944) + 120 = AM 2228
(BC 1824). They were 120 years old at the death of
father, Isaac.
Joseph AM 2200 (BC 1852) was 28 years old.
Benjamin AM 2208 (BC 1844) was 20 years old.
JACOB (AKA ISRAEL), AM 2108 (BC 1944) + 147 yrs.
= AM 2255 (BC 1797); Joseph, age 55; Benjamin,
age 47.
The Israelites were forbidden to enter this region,
as Yahweh had given it to Esau for a possession.
(Deut. 2:5) (i.e. Mt. Seir)
History: Esau's bitter hatred to his brother Jacob
for fraudulently obtaining his blessing appears to
have been inherited by his latest posterity.
The Edomites refused to permit the Israelites to
pass through their land. (NUM. 20:18-21)
Saul attacked and defeated them. (l SAM. 14:47)
David overthrew their army in the "Valley of Salt."
His general Joab destroyed nearly the whole male
population. (l Kgs. 11:15-16) They placed Jewish
garrisons in all the strongholds of Edom.
(ll SAM. 8:13-14)
Hadad, with a few followers made his escape to
Egypt. He was kindly received by Pharoah.
After King David's death, AM 3144 (BC 908), he
returned and tried to excite his countrymen to
rebellion against Israel; failing, he went to Syria.
He became one of Solomon's greatest enemies.
(l Kgs. 11:14-23)
In the reign of Jehoshaphat, AM 3245 (BC 807) -
AM 3270 (BC 782), the Edomites attempted to
invade Israel in conjunction with Ammon and Moab.
They were miraculously destroyed in the valley of
Berachah. (ll Chron. 20:22)
They revolted against Jehoram, AM 3270 (BC 782) -
AM 3278 (BC 774). They were then attacked by
Amaziah, AM 3325 (BC 727) - AM 3354 (BC 698).
The great stronghold, Sela, was captured.
(ll Kgs. 14:7; ll Chr. 25:11-12).
When Nebuchadnezzar, AM 3559 - AM 3604
(BC 493) - (BC 448) besieged Jerusalem the
Edomites joined him and took an active part
in the plunder of the city and slaughter of
the Jews.
(Read of their cruelty in Ps. 97.)
It was on account of these acts of cruelty
committed upon the Jews in the days of their
calamity that the Edomites were so fearfully
denounced by the later prophets.
[Isa. 34:5-8; 63:1-4; Jer. 49:17; Lam. 4:21;
Ezek. 25:13-14; Amos 1:11-12; Obad. 8,10,sq]
For their reward they were permitted to settle
in southern Palestine, and the whole plateau
between it and Egypt.
During the rule of the Maccabees the Edomites
were incorporated with the Jewish nation and
the province was often termed Idumaea.
Just before the siege of Jerusalem by Titus,
20,000 Idumaeans were admitted to the
Holy City, which they filled with robbery and
bloodshed.

of Edomite religion, see George L. Robinson,
