On the website is an article about Easter, Myth...

Since the article is referencing the resurection and we know the resurrection is true, doe that mean mean JFJ is staing that the holiday of Easter is genuine?

I don't think so, Both Easter and Christmas are clearly pagan holidays.

Easter is based on the goddess Ishtar.
The first Sunday after the first full moon after vernal equinox by gregorian calender is called Easter , that is what my mom said..
Sure we hunted easter eggs after they were died and hid, yet I learned many years later it was passover or as I like to call it resurrection day so to speak. As a gentile I've never been caught up in much customary  observance of feasts esp. religious but now that I am sure of what easter should represent i celebrate it as such.
After posting many times here and realizing and seeing the Jewish feasts hold much meaning and their significance as well; I am glad to see another post that influences common beliefs towards the truth of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.Big Grin
ÊÊÊÊIn America, unless I'm mistaken, "Easter" has been the Gentile word for Resurrection Day among Christians for some 350 years and more.ÊÊThe use of Firstfruits had been shunned by the Jewish Communities because it testified and witnessed to Christ.ÊÊThe last thing they needed was to have these Goyim say to them, "see, I told you so."ÊÊThe non-Jews were also very particular to make sure that Christianity was German or English or Irish or Italian, never that Jewish stuff. Easter was about as unJewish as one could get.ÊÊThat was the culture, that was the environment from which we sprang.ÊÊIt was preferred that if there were Jewish lineaged people coming into the Christian Churches, that they become a full fledged Gentile Methodist, or Baptist, or Catholic, or what have you.ÊÊBe Jewish at home, or amongst your own family, not in the choir, etc.ÊÊAfter all, your heritage is your pride, be you German or Irish or Jew.
ÊÊÊÊWhen I was a kid in New Jersey, we still had colored and whites only faucets and bathrooms at school, down at the harbor, and round about. Taking a wrong turn of the block, or stepping on the wrong sidewalk could empty a dozen houses, as you fought your way out against 30 or 40 people, some with weapons, most not.ÊÊThis was especially true in the white passing the black community, but not so vice versa, unless riot fever hit.ÊÊ Within the white community, the Germans lived in their sector, the Italians in theirs, the other nationalities in theirs, and then you had the melting pot whites.ÊÊThe founders of this site are probably those who lived in segregated Jewish communities (I could be wrong), until they lived their hippie lifestyle, assimilated socially, and came to San Francisco, where they met the L-RD after losing an african-american buddy.ÊÊThe desegregation of America really didn't hit until the late 1970s and early 1980s.ÊÊThose of us from before this era have a dictionary of traditional words we have been reared with that is reinterpreted in our minds to what we were taught as youngsters.ÊÊI'm sure that there are those who were of the same era and before the 70s who were reared without a strong Christian influence who think only of bunnies and Peter Cottontail when "Easter" is mentioned.ÊÊBut for the majority, the way Easter was promoted, was that it was a high holy day about Christ and His Cross, with a theme about His Resurrection from the dead, and stuff along this line.ÊÊThe second and more sacred high holy day was Christmas Eve (not Christmas Day so much), in which the greater emphasis was upon the birth and appearance of GOD among us to be our Saviour.ÊÊNow we can debate that Christmas is based on a pagan deity and all that, but the word "Christmas" evokes something more than trees and money and presents.ÊÊIt was a time and day of the year when even broken families came together under the grace and mercy of GOD, seeking and finding forgiveness through some holy and mysterious power of G-D in Christ, born among men...peace on earth, goodwill....ÊÊWhich December day, oddly enough, was really the day of Simeon and Anna's Hannukah proclamation over Yeshua at the Temple (re: Luke 2:25-40).ÊÊShould we now pout that our Christ's Mass should not be a celebration of Messhiach birth, but a celebration of His dedication?ÊÊSome things are better left off as more uncomplicated.ÊÊTo my knowledge, it was only with Zola Levitt in the 80s that the notion of Easter needing to be called Firstfruits really gained weight among Christians and Americans. The L-RD bless his memory, and His joy in Heaven among the saints.ÊÊ Enough said, right?ÊÊHope this helps.ÊÊShalom.

What we know as modern day Easter has, for the most part, come through the traditions taken in by the Catholic / Christian Church. Until the time of the printing press and the reformation caused by Luther, the history of the church meant the history of the Roman Catholic Church which was officially formed by the Council of Nicea under Emperor Constantine. Sadly, the RCC has used the same methodology the Roman Empire used when it expanded and conquered people ... it does not convert them so much as absorb them into its culture taking with it the customs and traditions of the people. For the church, this included electing Bishops from the local peoples and taking the pagan worship methods found there and altering them slightly to put a Christian veneer on them so that outwardly it looked like worship to the One Most High.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus, most of the customs now used to celebrate Easter actually come from the pagan rituals used to worship many other false gods. This was easily done since the chuch had thrown out the Hebrew Scriptures as being authoratative in life after Messiah ... a whole new set of worship customs and methods needed to be created or taken in to fill in the gap. This sadly misses all the symbolism and meaning of Messiah and His actions here on earth already found in the Scriptures. So instead, we have the last supper in place of the passover meal, a sunrise service in place of the firstfruits offering, and sometimes even the cross instead of the lamb. We see easter eggs used even in the church as ressurrection eggs, traditions including white lilies, easter bonfires, and hot cross buns ... these all have pagan roots dating back to before the time of Messiah and pre-date any 'christian' worship. Even the name of Easter itself seems to come from the name of the great mother goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe which was of dawn and fertility. The customs and the name are still in place for the worship of this false goddess, but it has been altered to be used for Elohim ... this is not right! In fact, the Scriptures say that worhsipping Elohim through pagan methods is an abomination and ought not be done.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The time of Passover is a joyous time of remembrance, both in what was done in Egypt when Israel was taken to freedom and in the actions that Yahshuah our Savior has done in taking us out of death from sin. Let's take some time this year to focus on the true meaning of the time ... it is not to be found in man's customs, but in the genuine truth of Scripture, the Word of Elohim. The High days of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Firstfruits offering, and Pentecost cover all of Messiah's death, ressurrection, atonement for sin, and new life for us that we need to know. It is what YHVH wants us to recognize.

yep. clearly a mixing of religions like has been going on since way back in the old testament.

a little bit of paganism, a little bit of christianity, a little bit of time ....... hey guess what? nobody knows any better than what they're doing is very wrong and perveted from the path. because they were taught to do it, their parents did it, and so did their grandparents. so it must be the honest gossipel.

and don't try to tell the masses different, you'll be labeled as a whacko. after all, "it's fun", "it's for the kids, all kids do it" and they don't want theirs to feel left out, etc, etc..

ishtar the fertility goddess and eggs the symbolism of fertility. mix in to the time frame of the passover and when people think jesus rose..... now you have  "............. a fine way of giving up the laws of god to follow the traditions of man".
The original Christmas was a pagan festival for the god Saturnalius.

The church decided to celebrate Jesus' incarnation (his birth) on the same day so as to replace the pagan holiday.  We don't know what day Jesus was born, so 12/25 was as good as any.

Now December 25th is associated with the birthday celebration of Jesus and Saternalius has been relegated to obscurity and 25 cent trivia questions.

Mission accomplished.

I am not as familiar with the origins of the Easter celebration.  But we have Biblical proof of what date Jesus rose.  We celebrate it on the lunar calendar every year.

.

easter is paganism and has to do with worship of tammuz

christmass is paganism and has to do with worship of tammuz

when Ancient Israel worshipped tammuz in the Holy Temple, G-d was NOT pleased and HE called it an abomination.

When Ancient Israel worshipped tammuz outside of the temple, G-d called it an abomination.

When Ancient Israel was involved in paganism, G-d called it an abomination.

When Ancient Israel, under Aaron, made a golden calf and then said they would use it to worship G-d, G-d was ANGRY at them and called it an abomination.

When "christians" are involved in paganism and call it worship of Adonai, how do YOU think G-d views this???  By what the Tanach says, He calls it an ABOMINATION.

Anyone who takes paganism (including easter and christmass) and calls it "christian" are commiting abominations against Adonai no matter how they try and justify it (Ancient Israel justified their paganism and killed G-d's Prophets when the Prophets told them what G-d said about it)

Learn from Ancient Israel - you cannot justify paganism even if you are using it to "worship" G-d.  Those involved need to repent and turn to G-d otherwise they will be punished just as Ancient Israel was punished.

WOW.  People admitting they think it's all right to "christianize" paganism and call it worship of G-d???  When Ancient Israel did this, G-d called it an ABOMINATION so why do you think it's ok to take tammuz worship and use it to worship Adonai now???

G-d taught against learning the ways of the heathen and their decorating christmass trees in Jeremiah 10.  He taught against worship of tammuz (lent and ishtar) in Ezekiel chapter 8.  They had weeping for tammuz (40 days of lent) and an ishtar (easter) sunrise serve in the Holy Temple (Ezekiel chapter 8) and G-d called them an ABOMINATION.

Israel REPEATEDLY adopted pagan practices - from the time of Aaron and his golden calf - to today --- and the other thing they have in common is that they all believed they were following G-d and they even rejected His prophets.

paganism is alive and well in Israel today just like it is in the united states - and yet most everyone says they are following G-d and are in denial that their country is pagan.  In the u.s. we have many statues of greek "gods" in washington dc, many obelisks, the statue of liberty, mountain worship, etc.  In Israel the have the grove of trees (Holocaust Memorial) along with its obelisks, the wailing wall, several obelisks throughout Israel, etc.  Yet the united states calls itself a "christian nation" and the rabbis in Israel promote the paganism of Israel while claiming to follow HaShem.

In Ancient Israel they said they were worshipping Adonai while they were involved in pagan practices.  Adonai called this an ABOMINATION and yet you claim you can take a pagan holy day and say you are using it to worship G-d???  I see no difference - it was an abomination to Him then and it is an abomination to Him now.  The only "mission accomplished" is to take Jews and tell them it's ok to worship in different pagan ways than they were ---- and to trick them into thinking they are following Messiah in Truth.

Repent of your wicked ways and turn back to Adonai in HIS Truth, not the lies of the roman church and it's daughters (ie: mainstream "christianity")

easter represents the ressurection of the pagan "god" tammuz.  It does NOT represent anything to do with Yeshua.  Sometimes the feast of ishtar and passover are as much as a month apart.  I know some churches that hold their "seder" the week before ishtar regardless of when passover is (a couple years ago they had it a month from passover)  They even served yeast rolls at their "seder"

Goes to show people still want to worship Adonai THEIR way instead of HIS way.

.
Nancy I do no worship tammuz. I do not worship saturnalius. I do not worship Ishtar. I worship Jehovah God of the Jews and the gentiles.
I worship the Son of God Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is quick (the living word JESUS) and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Matthew 26:18 The Master saith (JESUS): My time is at hand: I will keep the passover  at thy house with my disciples.

Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of an holyday or of the new moon or of the sabbath days which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

God knows what day it is, He also knows who worship HIM in spirit and in truth. I am sure he knows of the things or matters that would prevent us from entering HIS kingdom.

Passover was given by Adonai and we are told to keep it.  The feast of tammuz / ishtar (easter) is *NOT* Passover.  easter is PAGAN - always has been and always will be.  Yeshua kept PASSOVER - He would NEVER have acknowledged easter (which was celebrated in Israel at that time - it was from babylon)

Yep - nobody can tell me the holy days G-d gave us is wrong to celebrate.   This does NOT apply to pagan holy days.

G-d is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  He said to obey Torah, keep Shabbat, and keep His dietary laws.  They all will be kept in the Millenium when Yeshua rules on earth.  If they were important to G-d then and they are important to G-d in the future, they are important to G-d now.

Adonai has said He will judge those in the end times who break His dietary laws and who violate His Shabbat yet violating both of these are the first signs of rebellion against G-d.

You cannot take something pagan and claim you are worshipping G-d.  Ancient Israel did this and G-d rejected them and called it an ABOMINATION.

You have two choices:

1) continue in your rebellion by celebrating pagan holy days while saying you are using them to worship G-d

or...................................

2) Repent from your wickedness and follow Adonai in 100% Truth

The Tanach gives many lessons of Ancient Israel rebelling against Adonai and the VERY SAME THING is happening now and yet there of those today, just like in Ancient Israel, that claim they are obeying and following G-d while deeply entrenched in their rebellion.

I am a gentile who grew up in what I thought was a Christian home.  Even as a young child, I could not see how easter bunnies and eggs celebrated the ressurection of Yeshua (back then I called Him Jesus) nor did I see how reindeer, santa claus, and presents celebrated His birth when everyone said He was not born on that day.  When I was older and read through the Tanach, I saw it as the rebellion of Ancient Israel against G-d like it is.  I became a Messianic Believer over twenty years before I even knew others had the same beliefs or there was such a movement.

What is wrong with celebrating the Holy Days that G-d gave us to celebrate???  Why do you INSIST on celebrating pagan holy days instead of G-d's Holy Days and yet claim you are doing so to worship G-d???  The early church did not celebrate christmass or ishtar (even though both were celebrated by the pagans around them) until ~ AD 300 when constantine combined paganism and nominal "christianity" forming the roman catholic church.  Most of mainstream "christianity" is the daughters of constantine's romanism.  The reformers changed a few things about romanism they disagreed with while leaving most of it (including celebrating christmass and ishtar) intact.

Celebrating ishtar, christmass, lent, and the other pagan holy days are an ABOMINATION according to Adonai.  Keeping the pagan holy days IS worship of pagan "gods" and you DO worship them if you keep their "holy" days.  G-d says He will NOT tolerate those who are involved in paganism while claiming they are following Him.
