Let's see, the nt was written in Greek?
Doesn't seem to Jewish to me.
It was greek ARAMAIC and hebrew
greek makes up most of it.
I guest serach your going to call all those jews who also speak greek back then not jewish?
sugarman,
searchinmyroots is here on an anti-missionary mission instead of to respect JFJ and understand why Jewish and gentile Christians are Jewish and gentile Christians.
[font=Times New Roman][size=medium][color=blue]How could you possibly ask this question?
For one thing the New Testemant starts at the cross while the Old Testemant stops at the cross.
Why I say this; When Jesus was on the cross he said "it is finished" what was finished? The Old testemant salvation ends. When Jesus said it is finished a bolt of lightning struck the vail of the temple and it was rent in twain. What does this mean? Lots!
i/ The spirit of God no longer dwells in a building for man is now the temple of the Holy Spirit. Christ in you is our hope of Glory. How do we get the Holy Spirit? According to the Bible the Holy Ghost is a gift from the Father and He gives us this gift after we are baptized in Jesus name according to Act 2:38.
ii/ No more circumcision of the flesh. It is now circumcision of the heart
Romans 2:29
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
iii/ Salvation for the Old Testemant Saints is complete. The 144,000, 12,000 out of each tribe has been selected. Your ONLY hope for salvation is through the New Testemant and it's requirements for salvation. Jesus, when he died went to preach to the Saints in Paradise and then they rose with Him. The blood of bulls and goats pointed to the blood of the Lamb, and the saints were trapped in Paradise until they where freed by Christ. In the New Testemant Baptism in Jesus name also points to the blood shed on the cross so there is NO salvation without the sacrifice of the spotless Lamb of God for the sin/curse of the world.
The Day of Atonement could only cover Israel's sins for one year but the shed blood of the Lamb remits this sin, the curse, forever.
No more sacrifices for sin. The sacrifice of the Lamb was the final scrifice.
Baptism in Jesus name and the gift or promise from the Father is the New Testemant salvation.
What does Baptism in Jesus name do for us?
1/ Removes the curse
2/ Gives us a new name
3/ We receive the Holy Ghost
4/ We are new creatures in Christ
5/ Circumcision of Heart
6/ Joint Heirs with Christ
7/ We are the true Church
8/ Our name is written in the Book of Life
9/ We are higher than the angels
10/ We are the body of Christ - Christ is the Head
11/ We can do all things in Christ Jesus
12/ We are part of the High Calling in Christ
13/ We are High Priest after the Order of Melchisedec

GREAT POST WILBY!! What can we add to that? Nothing... as you quoted: "It is finished."
Yes, it is a Jewish book, written by Jews who believed in what Jesus was doing and preaching . It took them years to figure out what happened to Jesus and why. The writers tried to make sense of all of it after many years and wrote about it the best they could. It was for all of us to learn from. Not just one group, but the whole world. We must learn from it.
The Book Of Luke was written by Dr. Luke. He set out to investigate if all that he had heard was true. After his search his conclusion was that it is all true.
Luke
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
I do not know who Theophilus was but he was referred to as most excellant.
hy I say this; When Jesus was on the cross he said "it is finished" what was finished? The Old testemant salvation ends. When Jesus said it is finished a bolt of lightning struck the vail of the temple and it was rent in twain. What does this mean? Lots!
true but it also means our debt way paid for full on the cross and nothing else is added even hebrews says this.
that our sins were paid in FULL
I fear I applauded wilby too quickly.
According to his website baptism is in Jesus' name only.
Only one of the problems I found there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that what scripture says....lse't see now....
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them:
only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Act 19:5 When they heard [this],
they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus
Yep there it is....now show me the scripture where anyone was baptized in the trinity format.

I am going to presume that the term 'Jew' represents 'one of the Jewish faith.'

YES, as it is the only way for a person to see that Jesus taught Torah, and only rejected 'false' interpretations of Torah, not written in Torah, but in the Priestly/Rabbinic Extra-Biblical writings.

Not reading the New Testament, would be tatamount to a persons parents taking their new baby home, with the Birth certificate sealed in an envelope, so the parent accepts the baby, in the basket, without knowing that the baby is their own, or a boy or girl.

Shalom in Christ
What about accounts of the life of Jesus - are they reliable?
What about that rabbi who thinks all Jews should read the New Testament?
God wants all people to walk in line with His Word and not contrary to Him, unless He brings plagues.
From what I can see, both the Trinitarian formula and a Jesus only formula are acceptable in baptism, Jesus giving us the Trinitarian formula in Matthew 28.
I'm amazed at searchinmyroots not knowing about how widely Greek was spoken by Jews all over, thanks to a certain Macedonian by the name of Alexander the Great, several tombs, including the Talpiot tomb, are inhabited by the ossuaries of Greek speaking Jews. I'll drop a little hint: Why is it, that even in modern times, Jews outside of Israel are known as the Diaspora? That's a Greek term, where we get our English word 'dispersion' from.
Really, searchinmyroots, you need to mug up more on your own people's history, otherwise by that logic, people who spoke Yiddish aren't Jewish either. Which would be absurd for me to assert.
