how do you deal with "the unfairness of life" ?
King Hezekiah had his life extended 15 years and was told by Isaiah that his treasures would be carried away to Babylon but apparently not during his life..... great! this is good! it wont happen in my life, it will happen in my son's life ... so said Hezekiah
but perhaps Manasseah thought differently about this idea... his father is shown mercy and he gets what? his father gets extra years and he gets a promise of being carried away to Babylon ... it is no surprize that the "youth conflicts" in dealing with the situation might cause Manassa to turn away from G-d...
..... and that Isaiah guy who delivered the message... not in your life but in your son's... well... we have an idea what Manassah though since tradition says Manassah had Isaiah sawn in two....
the real G-d was rejected... innocent blood was spilt... the people were led in the wrong direction and great harm followed..
the difficulties of our situations...can lead to bitterness with our circumstances... or....it can lead to acceptance and trust in committing to the will of a faithful creator... but no matter how difficult, we can always trust the faithful creator and lean on His mercies
as in the case of Joseph...
and even in the cses of the worse kings of Israel like Ahab we see glimmers of mercy from G-d sometimes and
In the end we see a glimmer of mercy shown to Manassah who turns to the Lord... which after all gives hope... even in the worse of situations there may be mercies from G-d
