Helidoni,

I agree that Jews and Gentiles receive the same gospel and salvation is only thru Jesus.

I know some view 'to the Jew first, and also the Gentile' as a historic verse explaining that the good news was shared with the Jewish people first and then the Gentile people. And that is historically accurate.

Others view 'to the Jew first, and also the Gentile' as a process, method or command which was not limited to the historical truth that Jesus came to the Jewish people first. I agree with that view. Paul, when he entered a city, went first to the synagogues and then to the Gentiles. Since Paul as the apostle to the Gentiles followed that order, it is removed from merely being a statement concerning the order in history of who heard the gospel first and second but a method which is true today.

M'am,
I am not discounting the literal meaning of the verse and Bible. What I'm doing is saying that the Gospel is to the Jew/Church first, the Gentile/pagans.

Ok Goy. I just want to put forth one more thing for you consideration.

If I accept that we are to preach the gospel to the Church first, and then the 'pagan', then since we are both Christians and therefore members of the universal Church, according to the scripture, I must preach the gospel to you.

'So, Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God, who came in human flesh, and lived a perfect, sin free, life. He died for your sin and for mine. Was buried, and according to scripture rose again on the third day.

Do you believe that?

If so, you can confess your sin of unbelief, and accept Jesus as your Messiah, Lord and Savior.'

I know this is abbreviated for an example of the Gospel. If you have already believed on Jesus for your salvation, why would I be commanded to continually preach the gospel to you?

God bless,
Jan

We are to, as believers, make sure of election and re-affirm and remind ourselves of the Gospel everyday. Did God not instruct the Jews to read the Torah to themselves, their children, and so forth?
Paul always went to the Jews first when they wouldn't listen he then went and preached Jesus and Him crucified to the Gentiles.  These Gentiles were not believers in the Jewish God but in their pagan pantheistic gods.
He gave guideance in his letters to the Corinthians,Romans,Ephesians etc but he didn't preach the crucifiction over and over to those that had already been baptised and Holy Ghost filled although as our pastors or Rabbis he did occasionaly bring it to rememberance why we served God and what sacridfice He has made for us.
The Jews aren't the Church...they are the children of the promise which is why Paul ALWAYS went to them first to tell the that Messiah had come.  The Church is each person who is Holy Ghost filled and baptised in Jesus Name each of us are the temple of the living God who dwells in us.
