Dude,
Next time post this in the right place. But your pastor makes too general, although valid, point: Some Gentiles believe because some Jews didn't or don't. Some Jews have since been regrafted into the Olive Tree.
David Neff has explained in his article (apologetic) article, concerning the relationship of evangelicals to the Jewish community. His greatest point in his latest article in Christianity Today is that, if I may paraphrase, is , the evangelical Christian family finding common ground with today's Jewish family.
Liberals realizing the truth of Judeo-christian faith and the centrality of
Yahweh, and the Messiah is a good starting point for dialogue or even debate in the finer points of who and what G-d really is and how He is revealed to each individual.
This is my statement concerning the evangelical message: Our efforts to put forth Jesus (Y'shua) as the messiah, should never be taken as an assault or attack on the G-d of Abraham, Isaac or Jacob. Our message is truly born of love for all people from the stranger to the family that proclaims no religious affiliation.
I trust Jesus is the great teacher, as the Holy Spirit was with David, so I pray He will be with your efforts.
Shalom <(((((((<The article by Neff is on the first page of this site on the left side. It is worth reading.
I hold this truth to be G-d evident. That G-d the father, G-d the Son, and G-d the Holy Spirit to be one. I hold that they must all be in agreement with each other. G-d the son did not override the words of G-d the father. The law is not against the father and the spirit is not against the law. Anything, man, techer, preacher, church, etc.. that teaches otherwise is teaching a great fallacy.
As long as it is taught that the law was abolished, changed, etc.. there will be disbelief among Jews. So, by there very doctrine, they oppose this principle and the belief that G-d the Son changed the law ( Torah )
is a hinderance to Jews believing in Yeshua.
Many people have love for G-d and have no devotion to him. You really can have one without the other. The Jews ( non-believing in Messiah Yeshua) have great Zeal and devotion to G-d the Father. This in itself is not a bad thing. G-d loves them for their devotion. When he reveals himself to them, in the light of Messiah, this will be a beautiful thing upon the Earth. I believe this is happening now..
Those that adhere to the ideology that G-d the Father's words ( Torah ) don't matter anymore, or that his words are in conflict with their religion, should take a deep, hard look at their religion. Yeshua was always obeisiant to the word and will of the Father. It's not just the harmony of the gospels. It's the harmony of the whole set of books and teachings we refer to as the bible. Any teachings otherwise are perverted.
So, why should a Jew want to give up his devotion? Don't ask him to.
Is it not a possibilty that he can come to the knowledge of Yeshua without giving up his devotion? Yeshua came to reconcile Man to the Father. This will happen for the Jew. And he will have the Love and Devotion to the Father. It is wrong to insist that his devotion is not as correct as your love for the son. If you can see that his devotion plus the knowledge of the Son (minus the religion of ignoring the Torah of the Father) is the message of the Bible. If you can present Yeshua without insisting that he give up keeping the law, then go for it. If you can't, then you are doing more harm than good. It is the teachings of the Father plus the Teachings of the Son in complete harmony that will be the Jew spoken of in Zechariah. As long as people insist that to accept Yeshua is to forsake the Father, there will be division between Jews and Gentiles. But, I believe those days are soon to lapse into history. And there will be Happy Jews !
The reason the Jews don't believe is found in Deuteronomy;
Deu 29:4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Moses was talking to the people who had seen all the miracles of God and all that had happened in Egypt yet they still doubted and provoked him...
With Jesus its the same...they saw all the miracles that He God in the flesh had done..raising the dead..healing the blind etc but they could not see because He didn't give them a heart to understand, eyes to see nor ears to hear and it will stay that way until He takes the blindness away from their hearts, eyes and opens their ears.
Jews for Jesus is proof that Jesus is turning back to His people and they will again be His people and He will be their God alone
.Hsa 13:4 Yet I [am] the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for [there is] no saviour beside me.
The Name of the God of Israel is Jesus...He is One and His Name One
