Full Version: A question about the Ten Lost Tribes

I was speaking to someone the other day who mentioned that they believed the Anglo-Saxons are descended from one of the 'Ten Lost Tribes of Israel'. I felt a bit stupid at the time because I didn't know anything about it, just that the 10 tribes were lost from the total 12 in BC times. But the thought that they migrated across Europe seems a bit far-fetched (plus I've since checked out some of these 'Anglo-lost-tribe' sites online and what they say seems sort of elitist in a non-Christian way) and I just thought I'd come on here and pose the question to a Jewish person to get a different perspective and possibly some information. Is there any evidence about what happened to these 10 tribes? (i.e. Did they migrate to England or France?). Please only respond if you have done some serious study on this. Thanks. Smile

I'm not ethnically Jewish (as far as I know; but by faith, I'm more Jewish than Jackie Mason), but I will tell you that I've researched; and the excuse that the Saxons "of the Ten Lost Tribes" of England try to say, "Well, 'Saxon' means 'Isaacson' [or 'ben-Yitzchak']." Granted, there are some geniune past, present, and future English/British and Saxon Jewish people (i.e., Benjamin Disraeli, Mark Steyn, any one of their respective descendants); but many Saxons are not Isaac's sons (or daughters).

For more info, go to Yeshuat Yisrael and look at this or this, both of which you'll see at the Yeshuat Yisrael wesite.

Thanks for that GoyOfY'shua. I checked it out and Kagan makes things very clear and easy to understand. Cheers!
