My husband and I are Christian. In our studies, we are told to be Christ-like and to walk like Christ. Well, Christ was Jewish, so our studies have turned toward the life Jesus lived as a Jew. We met a wonderful woman from Branson, Missouri. Her and her friends came and celebrated Passover with us and brought with them a 500 year old Torah Scroll. It was amazing. She said she was a member of Jews for Jesus and said I should check out the site. I want to thank you, a lot of my questions have been answered and I have found many more things to study on my own. I welcome any communication with anyone seriously willing to teach me more about Jewish traditions. Again, Thank you and God Bless.
Tracey, I would suggest you join a Messianic congregation. There are many that have mushroomed in the US in recent years.
A good start would be to chat to Carmen at
The Refiners Fire She returns emails and will advise you.

Hey Mark and Tracey:
This is Carmen @ The Refiner's Fire. Someone saw the recommendation for me (that Mark posted here) and wrote to me for some guidance! I'm flattered - Thank you, Mark!
Tracey, if you have a sincere interest in Hebraic Faith/Messianic Judaism, I congratulate you and invite you to write to me, or check out my website:
http://www.therefinersfire.org/. I think you will be astounded at the things you can learn there.
May God bless you both!
Carmen
Hello,
I to want to live my life like Jesus but I realize that to walk as He did isn't a matter of ceremonies but to simply obey God. In other words, to walk in love. I've got a long way to go but seeing how God is faithful I'm filed with hope.
So yea, if you think that learning about the Jewish people is going to help you walk in love then more power to you... But please don't make it the center piece of your life.
To be a true Jew has nothing to do with the flesh. It's a matter of the heart (spirit).
Be blessed...
Tracey,
Blessings! I cannot believe what I was reading. You and your husband sound so much like my husband and me. We are Christian (or as he says, he is a spiritual Jew and a physical "American"

) We attend a Christian church and yet study Hebraic roots of Christianity. In fact, he teaches a class at our church every Wednesday night. I'm not sure if you or anyone else here on the site battles what we do, but my concern is this.....why such a lack of interest in Israel. We are commanded by God to support His land and love His people. It seems though at our church, some people start to run the other way the minute we say "Jew". I don't understand. It breaks our hearts. We called a pastor at our church to see if we could have special time on Sunday for the Jewish people and Israel for all that they are battling right now....not one person would call us back. We love our Messiah! He came to give us eternal life in Him and yet, yes, He too was Jewish. So I guess I'm having a hard time understanding the anti-semitism in some churches today. There is not a Messianic Congregation around here; unless I don't know about it. Anyway, feel free to email me anytime! Blessings to you and yours,
Shannon
P.S. I too have a Torah scroll that i purchased for my husband. He LOVES it!
There is a group called Christians for Israel. A member of our church just left with the group to go to Washington DC to discuss our (Christian) position on keeping Israel whole. This trip was planned almost a year ago, with 2 reps. from each state attending. We pray that with what is going on in Israel now, we will have a bigger impact on our leaders decisions. The closest Messianic Congregation we have here is 2 hours away. They are more than happy to send people to our church to do lessons (celebrate Passover, show us a 500 year old Torah scroll) and, Thank God, our church is more than willing to allow their teaching. Obeying God and living in love, along with faith in the sacrifice Jesus made for us, is our saving grace. I feel that learning who Jesus was and why He did what he did is important. If you believe in God and Jesus (as God in the flesh) then you have to know that the Bible is one book, not 2 books-old testiment and new testiment- in one cover. We have an obligation, as believers, to study the WHOLE BIBLE. Not living under the law but knowing the law.
