It is a sad commentary on our culture that people are complaining about a governor praying to God for rain (then it worked!) but then defend fakeing drowning people (warterboarding). We executed Japanese for doing this in WW2!
Regan emphazied that we are the good guys. Mercy! In God we trust, not torture. Besides, if you read litterature on the subject you will see that normally you can't really find anything out by it. All it is good for is destroying the minds of your politicall opponents. This is the kid of practice that has been perfected by totalitarian regiems in south america.

What in the world were they doing in eastern european torture prisons?
I would say limit physicall interrogations to 2 weeks or less.
