Hello to the world, or at least to all those who view this forum. I hope I have the right Jews for Jesus or I will B very embarrassed.
I purchased a Shabbat Menora through the mail and I was hoping that someone could answer some questions about how to use it properly. There was no instructions and I wish to be respectful of my relatives the Jews, (I am a gentile
).Let me begin:
Can you light a Shabbat Menora any day of the week or is it only specifically Saturday? What about lighting it onother day of the week would this be offensive?
Is there a certain order in which I should light the candles? Or a certain hour during the day which it must be lighted?
What is the difference between a Hanukah Menora and a Shabba'at Menora besides the number of candles and what is being celebrated by each?
Could you give me a history behind the Shabba'at Menora such as when it became a central part of the Jewish heritage?
I saw the movie Schindler's List, (hope you did
), was that a Shaba'at Menora that was featured in the scene that Schindler has finally gained control over his workers, (the Jews HE SAVED), and HE insisted they worship God for the first time in the comfort of HIS factory? What did you think of the movie Schindler's List? (It was in black and white--why do you suppose Spielburg Filmed the movie in such a manner?). Was he trying to project timelessness?
Back to the Shabaa't Menora
oes the Bible mention this Menora, New or old Testament? What about the Hanakuh Menora? What about Qwanza?
Tomorrow is Saturday. Any additional information you could supply would B super. Preferably before I have to light it.
Peace B with you,
SIG
