Her poem about the statue of liberty says something about people washed up like garbage on the shore and a surf beaten door. As a Jewish person did she add one more piece to the mystery of Leviticus 33:11 I have posted as the Mothen mystery?
Interesting she was a sephardic jew from Brazil.
Her friend got the metal plaque put up with her poem after she was dead because the powers in charge resisted the idea of the statue of liberty being a symbol of imigrants.
She won the poetry contest and at first they put her plaque inside the statue where nobody could see it. I understand she died before age 40 so she might not have even seen her plaque put up. All she knew was she won the contest. I got this from wickipedia.
It does sound like people drowning, huddled masses yearning to breath free.
