The Two Witnesses of Revelation 11. Who are these two prophets? What do they have to say? Why are they called the two witnesses? How will their message be proclaimed? And is there any special significance to the fact that they're headquartered in Jerusalem?

The Two Witnesses of Revelation 11
Who are they? I believe they are Levites because they are continually in the temple being described as golden lamp stands in Zechariah 4 also.  They are the end time David Prince and his wife who is the queen of the south (Mt 12:42), she being the southern Jachin pillar and he being the northern Boaz pillar.  She is young enough to be his daughter, he Ashkanazic and she sephardic. He rebuilds the fallen tabernacle of David and takes it from the ends of the Earth (Chilie South America) and takes it all the way to Jeruslem.  So Antichrist can end sacrifices on the temple mount that took place in this tabernacle if the temple is not rebuilt yet.

What do they have to say?  They say come to Jerusalem for Sukkot and pay tribute to Shiloh or you won't get any rain (Zech 14:17).

They are called the two witnesses because they are like the pillars of Solomon's temple. Each pillar is full of symbolism.  He is Zerubable the seed of Babylon who rebuilds the temple.  They get killed as martyrs, presumably by stoneing, their bodies turning to bread after a few days and they are caught up to heaven in the mid trib rapture in my theory.

In sack cloth.  They don't want to punish god haters but they have to.

The significance of Jerusalem is that he is the vice-regent of Jesus on earth.  Many of the "he who overcomes" statements are about him or them as a couple and not all believers.

What happened to the post I received by email that said they felt the 2 witnesses were Levites because they're always in the Temple?

I believe one will be of Levi and the other of Judah, priest and king representatives, because they will counter Satan's priest and king, the Beast and False Prophet.

I don't read that they're in the Temple, but would venture to say they'll be around it while fulfilling their mission from God. I'm sure they'll worship at the Temple, but where does it say in Revelation 11 they're in it? Unless you want to say they represent the lampstands that are in the Temple, but I think that would be taking the symbolism too far. God knows.
Well, you are right.   They might not always be in the temple, especially if it is not built yet.  But their place is the tablernacle of David that has the temple articles in it.  Maybe even at some point the ark of the covenant.

In seminary they said Revelation had difficult greek.  If you see the events as happening in heaven this makes it difficult (15:5-8).  Like people assume the multitued in white is in heaven or the 4  living beasts.  Maybe the ark appearing in heaven paralels the ark appearing in the tabernacle on earth if the greek word is ambiguous enough to mean temple or tabernacle.

So that is my question.  When it says the ark appeared in the temple heaven in Revelation is the word heaven not there?  Is this an interpolation by translators?

One last idea. The Jewish oral tradition has the levite flag being red black and white.  Is this an indication that the white horse is ridden by a Levite king? Rev 6:1ff
On the last few sentences of my post with my nick name I put "...god haters...".  It should read "...God haters....", for obvious theological reasons.
