...is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; against these there is no law. (Gal 5:22,23)
If you are reading a post in the forum, does it show that the person who posted it is a living example of these qualities? Or does the post show evidence of these qualities...hatred, strife, wrath, envyings, etc...? (Gal 5:20,21)
Jesus said "by their fruits you will know them. Do men gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth bad fruit." (Matt 7:16,17)
There are people who really believe they are Christians because they can quote scripture, argue persuasively or spout perfectly correct doctrine. There are others who pretend to be Christians in order to cause disruption, dismay and loss of faith .Some of them are even be leaders in churches or forums. But Jesus says the golden rule is to look for their
fruits.
Beware of wolves in sheeps' clothing. (Matt 7:15)
The whole of Jesus' sermon on the mount from Matthew 5 onwards is the kernel of the Gospel, and will help you to love God more and to walk with Him in obedience. This post is a little homily on a few verses from it.
.....There are people who really believe they are Christians because they can quote scripture, argue persuasively or spout perfectly correct doctrine.
There are people who really believe they are full of the fruit of the Spirit because they follow religious traditions and can recite litergy and place these things above Scripture; in two words, self-righteousness.
Self-righteous nominal Christians who place tradition and litergy above the Word of God - Scripture - are placing themselve above Gods authority because God Himselt
has magnified and placed His Word (Scripture - The Bible)),
not tradition and litergy,
above His Own Name,
Thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name -Psalm 138:2, KJV

I do not argue
Nevertheless you are clearly, from your post, very prepared to deliberately to provoke argument......and whilst you are on the subject of the fruit of the Spirit and knowing people by their fruits ... you overlooked living and walking by the Spirit ... "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
Let us have no self-conceit,
no provoking of one another...." (Galations 5:25-26)

Why would you think that?

Just because one is a Christian does not mean that (s)he is perfect.

Thank you Goy for this rebuke.

I have feet of clay as do all Christians.
