Hello - I am new to this forum and am very happy to be here.
God bless all of you.
I have a question in regard to 'YHWH'.
I fellowship with Christians that will only say Yahweh when referring to God or Y'shua when referring to the Messiah and will dare not say LORD OR Jesus because it is a pagan name.
Annnnnnnnd I fellowship with Christians that will just about spit on the ground when they hear some one say 'YHWH' because they say it is a pagan god's name. Also they say Yeshua, Yahshua or Y'shua are evil as well.
Can someone tell me whether or not 'YHWH' was originally in the place of LORD throughout the the Old Testament.
Thank you

Welcome to the forum.
In the Old Testament, Yud Hey Vav Hey (YHVH or YHWH) , are four Hebrew letters called the Tetragrammaton. There are no vowels in biblical Hebrew, and no one knows the exact pronunciation so 'Yahweh' or 'Yahveh' are close approximations. Those Hebrew letters do exist in the text. However, to honor the Holy Name of God, Jewish people when reading the text out loud, substitute the Hebrew word Adonai when the see YHVH in the writing. Adonai means Lord. Adonai also appears in the 'original' Hebrew text. YHVH is translated as Lord, but Adonai is also translated as Lord in English translations, so when you see the word 'Lord', the Hebrew could be either YHVH or Adonai.
I would say that neither Yeshua or YHWH are pagan unless you want to call the Old Testament pagan.
I personally think there is a problem when someone insists that God be called YHVH only or the Jesus must be called Y'shua only. Since God is God, He is not restricted to any one language. Jesus is the savior for all people, not just Hebrew speakers, and knowing how to read or speak Hebrew is not a prerequisite to salvation. If someone insists that Jesus be called Yahshua, they have been influenced by a group called Yawists or Sacred Namers. This is a very strange group which emphasizes the 'proper pronunciation' of the name. They believe you can't be saved unless you use the correctly pronounced Hebrew name. I would call this salvation by pronunciation rather then faith in Jesus, and would stay away from this group.
For Y'shua, or Yeshua (not Yahshua, this is not accurate), this is Jesus Hebrew name.
I agree with the person who explained about the names Yahweh
and Adonai. There are many people who prefer to call GOD a certain
name, but as long as it means the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
it is o.k.
God has many names in Scripture:
Lion of Judah, Rose of Sharon, Abba (Daddy) Father,
etc. Truly there is "No other name by which you can be saved"
But God knows who you are talking about.
What about people who talk to God in Korean, or Japanese, or
Spanish or French, etc.
Our relationship with God is not based on what language we speak,
it is based on a personal relationship with the Son of God.
