Unarguably, John on his best, was one of Jesus greatest teachers.
This man always inspired me. He died for a nobel cause, I believe.
Despite any grudges you may bear against me, feel free to pay tribute... and talk about him.
I don't understand, why is there a problem, they were cousins. Jesus him self stated that, there was no other man born to woman, than john. Also, you must understand, that John knew he had to decrease, so The Lord could increase, john fulfilled his destiny. Which was, let it be known, that the son of man, the Lamb of God, has arrived. The Lord God, The Word, from the beginning, was God. And is God, God the Son. And John, the servant. John, the cousin. John, a saint, and prophet of the most High, not the most high. This you must know, and understand! Y' Shua ! The greatest man that ever lived! Sinless, Perfect, The Lamb. And not John, not even on his best day, my brother, are you kidding me? Shalom Baba!

Yes, you're right. You don't understand.
"And not John, not even on his best day, my brother, are you kidding me?"
And why should it be a problem for Jesus to learn from someone like John? Even if John had a different mission than Jesus, they were friends. Even if John was a sinner?
Jesus, so trusted John, that was baptized by him. Jesus had to learn from others too. He didn't become a carpinter out of thin air. He learned the trade with his father Joseph and from others also.
Jesus kneeling to be baptized by John, shows the messiah's modesty. Shows he ain't different from the rest. No exeption to the rule. A messiah leads by example.

Actually, it is not clear from scripture that Jesus and John the baptist ever saw each other before coming face to face by the Jordan river. In those days people could live thirty miles apart and never visit each other (they didn't enjoy the leisure we have today).
Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Joh 1:30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Joh 1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
Joh 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
Joh 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
Joh 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
Mary went to tell Elizabeth the news about her visit from the angel Gabriel regarding the coming birth of Jesus, after Gabriel told her that Elizabeth was also going to give birth.
Luk 1:36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
Luk 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Is that right? Thank you then... should i change my believeth in what was meant for me to believe just because you say scripture is not clear? No, don't think so.
To me scripture says what it says. If my judgement tells me that's the truth, then i believe, if not... i don't.
Contradictional how some of you claim to love Jesus and his teachings but do not feel compelled to pay hommage to one Jesus loved so much.
I'm sure if Jesus was present in here, he would be the first to pay tribute to his friend.
John wasn't a teacher of Jesus...no scripture to back up that assertion...
at 12 yrs old Jesus was found in the temple disputing with the elders and scribes...no mention of John....
Jesus didn't kneel...he was laid under the water and lifted back up by John...scripture says after he came up out of the water..not after he knelt in the water..
John was the prophet who made the way straight nothing more....he was His cousin but no where does it say they were freinds not that John was His teacher....besides what was he going to teach God who had made everything?

Scripture is silent on that point so it must be that you just fill in the blank as you go along and "call it scripture".
John ate a diet of grasshoppers with honey. This is common knowledge. Disgusting, yes, and arguably ceremonially unclean ala Moses, but probably high in protein.
What is less known is that Martin Luther had a Diet of Wurms!

Was John a Baptist? I thought he was a Lutheran?

PS: Oh, maybe people mean to say "the baptizer?"
