Hi, I have a question for you. Do you feel that the Jewish blood line is passed down through the Father or the Mother?
The orthodox Jews of today believe that the bloodline is through the Mother, But I have a problem with that because Rayhab and Ruth are in the jewish linage and their childern were considered jewish, but both of them were not Jews, they were Goyem.
Now the Torra (according to rebbi Marty) says that the bloodline is passed down through the Father like as in Abraham, Isaac and Israel and so on and so forth. So what do you think?
I understand why the ortho, Jews feel this way, but I do not agree with them because which ever parent (or grandparents) was Jewish (Father or Mother) that means that you are Jewish. The Genetics is in the blood. Albeit the child is not 100% jewish, but never the less they are still Jewish.
To many good Jewish people did not claim their Jewish heritage all because their Father was Jewish and their Mother was not.
I know that the population of the Jewish nation are starting to dwindle, if you are only part Jewish be proud of who you are, Remember that the covenant with G-d was passed down through the seed of Abraham, for a thousand generations, and you are that seed.
Shalom!!!
Noah,
FYI- I thought you had accidently posted duplicates but realized after it was too late, you wanted this in two locations. My apologies. I moved it here so hopefully it will reach everyone you had hoped to see it.

See my previous post. I'm still trying to determine if my great-granddad was.
The way it was explained to me was that originally the lineage was through the fathers but then after the Temple(s) were destroyed, the captivities, etc., the rabbis decided that the only sure verification was who the mother was since the mother has to be present at birth. (Was that a run-on sentence or what?) *shrugs* Made sense to me.
It is only important to two people who your people, family or lineage is :
1) to you.
2) to your enemies.
It is good and nice if you know who your family are. I am blessed that I know my geneologies back 12 generations but, there is a break between that first of the 12 and the beginning of human kind - and it is there that Yeshua levels the field between all peoples.
If you are not grafted into THE BLOODLINE OF GOD through His Messiahship and His Being your Kinsman Redeemer in Yeshua it is not gong to matter one little bit who your father, grandfather or great, great grandfather or mother's were. God does not have grandchildren only His Own little darlings and precious inheritance - any human being who will believe His Words, trust in what He says and put their faith in Him and and He has done - our Holy Father, our Kinsman Redeemer and Messiah and our Holy Spirit and Teacher of The Law and Love of God.
Thank you one and all, OK, here is another question, What makes you Jewish? I for one have a Jewish bloodline that was passed down to me through my Father, so others Jews say that I am not Jewish, but some of the Jews that are saying this have blue eyes and blond hair and light skin, so how can this be if they are 100% Jewish?
The original Jewish people that came from Israel had black hair, brown eyes and dark skin. Most of my family and even my daughter have these charateristics but I do not, I have a Jewish nose, but that is about it. I have seen many Jews that have Gentile features, and that tells me that they have mixed blood just like me, but yet they are considered Jewish and I am not....This is the thing that bothers me and I guess I will never understand.
I do feel that I am part of Abrahams seed, but more importantly we are all part of the family of G-d, Jew and Gentile together as the "One new Man" and that Yeshua is Messiah for ever and ever Amen.
Shalom!!!

The ones who ignore patrilineal descent wouldn't see Jacob, the 12 sons of Jacob, or Judah and Joseph's respective children as Jewish. Rebekah, Rachael and Leah, Tamar, and Joseph's Egyptian wife were gentile.

I think this is the best response to a question that I have seen on J4J.
Jewish linage as far as G-d is concerned is either from the father or the mother. This is what the Bible teaches.
For some reason the orthodox Jews on this point become very messianic and quote the seed of a woman... and why a Jew is born only from a Jewish mother.
Depending which rabbi you ask they do give allowances regarding religious observance but the above is the general view despite many instances in the Bible which clear supports blessings and curses from either father or mother.
Wherever Jew or Gentile lets worship the L-rd for He makes us one.
ok its late goodnight...

May I join with revelation320 in applauding this most excellent response.
