Psalm 146:2-4

2 While I live I will praise the LORD;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.

Observing our presidential candidates, all these puny politicians with their agendas, these mere mortals who don't even appear qualified for office (except for Ron Paul, possibly), grieves me and makes me pray all the harder, "Thy Kingdom Come," recognizing the absolute need for God to save us from ourselves and straighten out the mess mankind has made on His good Earth.

Kingdom of God-Beings to Rule Earth from Jerusalem!
David, am I correct in believing that your hope is not to "go to heaven" but rather for the kingdom of God to be established in the middle east? If so, I am thoroughly in agreement that this is the biblical hope.

Nice to meet you,
The meek shall inherit the Earth.
David Ben-Ariel Wrote:

The meek shall inherit the Earth.

Hi David. I'm not sure why you quoted that, but I think I'll pass on some insights:

* the word you translate as "Earth" should read "land" - as in "the land of Israel."

* the word you translate as "inherit" should read "seize" or "take over."

* the passage is a quote from Psalm 37:

9  For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10  For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11  But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

* this in turn relates back to Deut 8:

1 ¶  All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

* Jesus discussed this with the rich young ruler:

Luke 10:
25 ¶  And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26  He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27  And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28  And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

So, the essence of the verse is that saints (the meek and obedient) will survive the crusade (the seizing) and enter into everlasting life in the promised land.

Sugarman, your comment was pretty lame.

Do you want to possible try again by providing an intelligent response, instead of some half baked insult?

What word's meaning do you suggest that I have overlooked? Are you thinking that the word is correctly translated as "inherit" and has the sense of "get from their daddy when he dies?"

If so, I suggest that YOU get a lexicon. I have BDAG and also have access to others online, and I consult them.

Well, aside from the hurt that goes with being represented by a sinner,
(That was not a stab at Catholics) pray for them. I couldn't afford their plate lunches.

Shalom!
