Full Version: what have we sacrificed for out belief?

last month a woman I believe her name was Ra'ash died under torture in an Egyptian jail...her crime?...renouncing Islam and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as saviour.
She spent 5hrs under torture but DID NOT recant her faith in Jesus Christ before dying.
We argue or debate trivial things like trinity, tanach versus NT...but last time I looked our commission was to go out into alll the world preaching Jesus not argue about things that have no meaning.

How many here would last 30 minutes under torture?
would we recant?..you say no way but let's see what happens when real persecution starts.

I think we should as a forum take a few minutes to remember this woman who is now in paradise and pray the the Lord would give us the courage of our convictions to having done all(withstood privation, persecution, torture) to stand for our King.

We haven't sacrificed anything....but we will....and real soon
It is sad because we will not die to the Sins and choice in this world let alone die for Christ if we were under pressure.
"If you can not run with the foot men how will you run with the horses?"
People around the world are dying for the cause of Christ and many are being mamed for it but we here sit and wonder about if we could. Sad is it not.
Judgement will come to this great nation America because the Almighty God has seen our Sins of a Nation Turn their backs on God and he does not take that lightly at all.
We will be dying for the name of Christ and what will be the strengths in him that will keep us and carry us through.
Until we can die to the things around us now that contaminate our walk with God we will not die for him in more pressuring circumstance.

This is the reason we cannot set forth strange doctrine. Or say, with out some concentrated effort that everything is ok cause we are trees planted by rivers of waters. We are watering the bedrock of what has been given and lain before us by the apostles and prophets.

I like salt and the previous post. Realizing I am not perfect I read Romans 7 often, and then on to chptr 8. I have to lay down -Psalms 4
-yet the Lord must be Lord. He is God of both the dead and the living.

I ask questions silently , God answers and repeats the answers, What does suffering entitle us to? We shouldn't judge an amount of suffering as entitlement to blessing. We can expect no more nor less than Y'shua Ha Masshiach himself.

Smile I just like the sound of Y'shua.

I don't necessarily agree with that statement. It is human nature to "postpone"... but when something is HERE AND NOW, DEFINING MOMENT, IMPORTANT, we take a stand.

I can tell you right now that I am not perfect, and my walk is not perfect... some of the things I struggle with now have been a struggle since I was first saved (over 20 years ago, PRAISE GOD!).

But if "they" came to the door and asked me to recant my faith in Jesus, I could not. Not under any circumstances.

Here's a true story/conversation that I have used many times to illustrate my point on this matter:

My husband and I were arguing one time about his taking out the trash (his job). I told him that it made me feel like I wasn't important to him to take care of his duties. He said," You don't KNOW that I would take a bullet for you, I love you so much?" I said, "I have no doubt that you would die for me, but you still cannot seem to take out the trash."

Same with us. We don't do the little things, but that doesn't mean we aren't willing to lay our life down for the truth.

The more important thing is that this woman is a STRONG witness to her Muslim family and friends... I pray she was able to show/tell them the forgiveness, freedom, and love that Christ offers as opposed to the constant unrelenting judgement, forced submission, and bondage that Allah demands.

There are a couple of things I have learned, through the years.  One is that: No one knows for sure their reaction to pain and suffering.  Two is that: Most 'beleivers' are petrified scared of what we call 'death,' and I call 'Graduation.'

I, never having been tortured, like that poor woman, and many many others, cannot say for sure how I would react.  I did, however, learn much at the 'Prisoner of War' school.  I saw people take punishment, and not break, and saw a few break down after nothing much more harsh than a mean stare.

The only thing an enemy (especially Satan) can take away from a person is confidence in Faith.  They that cannot break a persons faith, will eigther give up and go on to the next subject, or, send you to 'graduate' ahead of the class, to be with the Lord of our existance.

A true beauty about our faith is that He strengthens those who love Him, with the power of His Love, so we can stay the course, unto death.

Sorry, but, in a way, I envy those whose faith is put to the test, before they arrive at Judgement.  Marvel at the strength of faith these people have, knowing full well, to accept Meshiach signs their own death warrant, but does so with great joy.  People like her, and hopfully the rest of us, will, through their strength of faith, frustrate Anti-christ, to no end.  Heh, Heh, Heh (had to let that out)

To one and all, Shalom.  Arley
We sacrifice nothing for our ignorance.

Amen, brother!
People recognized as someone who eventually might make significant impact for the cause of Christ, are sometimes twarted in their effort to find a true place of ministry.

Paul - open door- many adversaries, former Jews- brethren
Moses - guilty of manslaughter, Egypt, forgetting to speak to the rock
(Who made you a judge and ruler over ME?)
David - sling & 5 stones (Ha Ha Boy), older brothers, adultery, conspiracy
Joseph - animal pit, slavery, Potiphar's wife, (What the devil thought for Evil, God uses for His Glory)

Should not have Christ suffered, and entered into His glory?

Job.19
[14] My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
Pss.41
[9] Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Matt 10
[36] And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
James 5
He that convinceth a sinner of the error of his ways, saveth a soul from death.
