Emunah is the Hebrew root word for faith means having absolute conviction that something is true and that belief brings about ACTION
in Acts and the letters we read of the faith of the early church and how that faith affected their lives and subsequentially the world around them
many of us identify ourselves with the early church ( in the same category) but are we ?
some years ago, bout 7 or 8, i had been to an evening meeting and left around 9:30 pm and started walking home and while walking ihad seen an elderly woman sleeping on a bench outside a chip-shop in town, she was well-known as a drunk and homeless
inside me, God spoke, he said " go in the shop and arrange for her to have something hot to eat and drink each night for the coming week and you'll pick up the bill at the end of the week "
at that time i had around five pound on me ( roughly 10-12 US dollar ) but i ignored The Voice thinking it was just me talking and i walked on by
that night the weather snapped and it froze overnight, the old lady was found the following morning, huddled in a corner frozen to death
because of my ignorance and INACTION she had perished needlessly
sadly it still happens today with churches, i have seen the consequences of INACTION only too often, though i learned a lesson that day i learned it the hard way.
all it would have cost me is 20 quid ( pounds) and my INACTION cost her, her life
some smart geezer said that every ACTION has an Equal and Opposite Reaction
but then INACTION has Equal and Opposite Reactions too
preaching, praying and promising is not enough
God's word says " that if you see a brother in need and pray for him, yet do nothing TO HELP, then your love is only in word AND NOT DEED
in another place He says "with-hold not any good thing from those who need it"
right now we we are thinking of Christ's Crucifixion and Ressurection, He saw us in need and with-held nothing, He gave His own Life to save our's,
can we do anyless for Him and those around us
God may we have compassion on others
God let us not become apathetic
God may we be a People of Action
