What is it to be a Jew?
I ask
A collective conscience that once sustained it’s last flicker of hope
Covenant worthy, full of meaning, spirituality and the consuming flames
of Yahweh's pride
Of reason to be, to love as keeper of His brother, and sister,
accepting abuse and hatred even while casting down imperfect thoughts.
Held obstinate in structure, discipline and form
Their belief in one G_d-
A G_d of compassion.
Hearing His voice,
They went with G_d.
Beyond hardness of heart:
The waymaker through the pain of
Being chosen to bare the same.
...with Joy.
They were not asked to put forth an allegience to be followed,
But that they might be led.
That they might be possesed of His Spirit to rest and to give thanks to G_d
In the new land set before them.
And Heavenly city!
They have escaped cruelty by mercy, promise and one sacrifice.
To a good life as His children, sons and daughters. Friends of Christ.
With His protection and blessing-
Their existance and the coals of true love’s innocence.
He gave them the keys to His kingdom.
That we should believe in His way, His truth, and this Life He gives,
And that we should be, To the Praise of G_d's Glory!
Pray for Friends for Israel via. JfJ. Halleluyah! Glory to G_D!
I have written my first poem...
I would appreciate some editing help or advice.
I feel the poem is strong in meaning but very weak in rhythm?
HIStory's Echo...
"Beautiful world" vanity had spoken
Joey longed beyond the flash foretoken
Had an encounter along the way
Now a servant of redeemer betoken
"Who can find?" a wise man once swayed
"Virtuous peace? Pray, so you may love her one day."
Her waters birthed kingdoms with celebrations of joy
Floods of her nakedness arousing violence foretold
Her absence and tears echoed life's lot of them born
What can be offered for her firm nurturing home?
Will a grown man suck the milk from her voluptuous breasts?
Is there a direction in which the sun continually rests?
Who knows His story or the name He obtained?
Is truth an "I do" of motive dismay?
How long, O man, will you betray the one you love?
Pacifism is literal but children must live to give life!
Will innocent blood spill again and again?
Will the deaf hear the drops of her tears and the pain?
Will wisdom birth forth man's faith and spring rains?
Choose his countenance foreseeing The Great Today!
It is what you choose to concentrate on. There is beauty in the rhythym
although each stanza must be arbitrarily constructed. There is beauty in the unfamiliar words because they make you stop and think. What's important to me is that it seems like you are trying to say too much, and do a good job at it.
Now if I reread and follow the rhyming scheme there is flow, I believe
it was Dickinson that introduced unfamiliar rhyming couplets and so forth.
Peace from God to you.
The Highest Call
My saviour I have heard you,
Your voice found in mankind.
In the cries of infancy,
and in your grand design.
Your goodness spoken in the wind,
In smallest efforts born of love.
And in your heartfelt prayer for us,
Found just in Christ above.
For I see that it was you.
Who paid the price we could not pay.
How everything becomes anew,
By cleansing blood you shed that day.
You see, He answered Father's way,
For joy, in God's good time.
And rose again that blessed day,
Now purchased, we are thine.
