I heard a sermon illustration of what Paul meant by predestination in Ephesians. I think it helps. Predestined is a concept  one who has never heard or accepted Christ should not have put before him as a hindrance to the free gift of Gospel grace.

We see an arch and on the keystone above the passage is engraved "Enter and be saved by Y'shua".
We gladly pass under the arch, accepting G-d's gift of His son.  Looking back we see engraved on the other side of the arch, "G-d has predestined you to recieve Christ as Lord and Saviour and elected you to service."

Paul was really keen on getting as close to the mystery as possible and still leaving it as such.

1Tim.3
[16] And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

G_d does not accept me on the basis of my works, I am saved by Christ's work, then... He works through me.

John.14
[12] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Shalom
The doctrine of predestination cannot be completely understood, for it is an act that resides in the mind of an infinite being, and we, as finite humans, cannot understand this.

This article explains contemporary positions concerning Calvinism and Armenianism.
God's sovereignty and mans responsibility are not mutually exclusive.
This helps me to understand choice and God's blessing of grace. And as far as Paul being justified to know we are predestined, never forget, He stated plainly that the gospel was revealed to him, by Him.

I am not responsible for God, I am responsible how I respond to his call.
I must say I enjoyed reading this thread. The following was well written and demonstrates what being a TRUE Christian is about... I quote:

"G_d does not accept me on the basis of my works, I am saved by Christ's work, then... He works through me."

For those who understand me and been following some of my recent posts will know that I accept Jesus as my Messiah. I just don't see him as God Almighty.

Primogenit,

Hope you can post again. Y'shua is Yahweh's son. He has always been with Yahweh. He is of higher rank than the Angels. He is one with the Father.
Y'shua accepted worship. Y'shua provided access to the Father. Y'shua is the brightness of Yahweh's glory, the Express Image of His Person.
Hebrews tells us Y'shua is also creator. Y'shua is the Word of God.

The Lord Adonai bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you. May He be gracious unto you, and give you peace.
