Full Version: The Torah is great for what it is

Paul said that the law was our tutor to lead us to Christ. Gal. 3:24

So if I or even someone out of my league like Paul says he delights in his inmost being in the law what is it that stops us from being Torah observant jews or prosthelites?

It is because we can't keep all of it.

The sermon on the mount isn't a new law code you can't keep.

Jesus said your righteiouisness has to exceed that of the scribes and pharisess.

You can only do that with God's righteousness credited to you.

The Torah is awsome for what it is, it is like a mirror to show you your face is dirty but can't clean your face.

Just because God knew men would worship the sun it didn't stop HIm from createing it.

Jesus said to the Jews, "You diligently study the scriptures because you think that in them you possess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life."

John 8:39,40 NIV
Chad,

The Torah is "The Book of Life, The Tree of Life, Living Waters". G-d says it cannot be changed and it is eternal for all time.

So whatever anybody else says, really doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what G-d says.
For example I haven't shaveed or trimmed my beard at all in over 2 years.

Most Jews don't obey the Torah on this.  In fact, very few don't trim their beard at all not one bit.

It means to me not haveing untilitarian efficiency, not whoreing the land, not wounding your daughter.

So if Jewish people in Yeshua bring their teffilin and philacteries this is good.  They have a low divorce rate and tsitsi probably could help us too.

But don't go too far with it.  It is good for what it is.

God created man with a desire to worship a man as God, or to be female though man.  The thing is we have to wait till God's time and place where these desires can be expressed in a way that is not perversion or corruption.

Impatient transexuals might have gottten what they wanted in heaven where there is neither male nor female.
"The Torah is awesome for what it is, it is like a mirror to show you your face is dirty but can't clean your face."

RE:
Because you have your dirty hands in front of your eyes and can't see.
But if it is pumice soap, like the orange go jo for car mechanics then it is like glass that cleans your hands?

Every illustration breaks down somewhere.

WADR, the Torah is MAGNIFICIENT! It tells us of our nature, God's nature and LOVE and LONGSUFFERING for us... and the plan of Redemption.

It also tells of great men and women who LOVE Him, but who fail Him time and again, falling to their own flesh... but He STILL calls them HIS!

Does it save us? No. Are we to worship it? No.

But don't discount the beauty and wonder and mircale that it is. And I think we don't even know the 1/2, 1/10, 1/10000, 1/infinitum of it's wonder.

But isn't Y'shua ben-Miryam  the Torah and LOGOS?

I do not in any way mean to detract from the Law... let me put it this way: Torah is 100% LOGOS, but LOGOS is not ONLY Torah... does that make sense?

No one is trying/has tried to change it.
