We would do well to guard ourselves.

The Pope, or ANY leader, has only the power allowed by the people. They did this with the compliance, through fear, of "his subjects", and/or anyone in the area, followers or not. (Just like many Germans who were afraid to speak out against Hitler, to save their own families similar fates as the ones being persecuted. Jews, protestants, "Bible-believers", anyone who stands in the way of their power. All dictatorships rule this way, for example: Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Hussein, Castro, Jong-Il, Chavez, etc, etc. Their power comes from their willingness to bring torture on anyone who opposes them.)

Understand that (especially back then) the papacy was a goverment, the Pope was not only a religious leader, but a monarch in a sense, dictator in my eyes. (And under His [religious] subjugation were other monarchs.) Today, IMO, the RCC has a very socialistic tendancy...so, how much has it changed (politically)? Bondage is bondage.

So, I say, "guard ourselves", because it is easy to say what we would do when not under that kind of sadistic terror. It's another to want to spare your child going to "the camps" or subjected to torture, by a mere turning of our own eye while others are being slaughtered. (Those of us in democracies should pray hard and seek the Lord before casting a vote for a leader. Hitler, after all, was elected.)

The same kind of maryrdom is happening all over the world, we just don't hear about it on the daily news in the western world. Voice of the Martyrs would be a good place to start.

There are currently protests against China to "free the Tibetens"... who calls out for the end of tyranical rule in Communist China against ALL faiths? No one. No one will come to the aid of Christians. We are despised, and the propaganda against us is that we are narrow-minded bigots who are likened to the Jihadists (by the likes of those in Hollywood, who get a mic and a spotlight).

We need to know the full history, but keeping in mind that this is all foretold, and Jesus is ALREADY victorious. And pray that we could stand strong under any pressure.

I have Roman Catholic family members; but let me assure you that not all of them, let alone all Roman Catholics, are like that.

During WW2 the installed pope had a group of Jews kept in a political cage in Rome. They were the pope's Jews and the Nazi's were told "Hands Off these Jews."
They were kept to show the world the remaining survivors of a nation that rejected jesus. They where to be kept in a political bubble until the second coming where they would either repent,... or just go to hell with the rest of the Jews.
BTW: Word has it that the Jews were given special permissions and they did not pay taxes either!
Interestingly enough the book of matthew (23) reports that jesus said he cannot come back for act II until the Jews say "Blessed are you, who comes in the name of the Lord."
How long must we wait?

This has always been the direction of the RCC proper, the Vatican, regardless of what more generous Roman Catholic laypeople think or practice.

Goy, you fight me on a thread about holidays and my perceived legalism, which is only personal conviction, yet defend the very most legalistic church on the earth!  You rail against law abiding Jews, and defend millstone tying/enslaving Roman Catholicism. Why do you do it? Naivety, about the truth of the RCC, I assume.

Read "What's Your Authority?" and tell me if you see some similarity to Rabbinical followers here.

If one doesn't follow the sacraments to the letter they are lost to hell, according to the RCC. ("Grace" is really a foreign term to RCs, for them, it's ALL ABOUT works. They have no sense of eternal security.) They worship Mary as Redemtrix. (Don't parse words with me over "venerate" and "worship"... they worship and pray to Mary as a mediator!) They put up as many barriers between people and Christ as any cult does. Their traditions are not only extra-Biblical, but ANTI-Biblical. (Again, Mary and "the immaculate conception"...not Jesus', as we all assume... but HERS! Her assumption and her perpetual virginity. Beatification of saints. Ad infinitum, ad nauseum.) Their focus is on the Papal Authority, not Jesus'.

I know (a very few) saved RCs too, but I say they got there DESPITE the church, not because of it.

There are [other] legalistic churches, I don't excuse them either.

Let us examine what Scripture says about 'who is holding up the show (I quote from the Amplified Bible)....

23And even those others [the fallen branches, Jews], if they do not persist in [clinging to] their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again.

    24For if you have been cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and against nature grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much easier will it be to graft these natural [branches] back on [the original parent stock of] their own olive tree.

The real historic Mary is the most blessed vessel, but she is still that, a vessel.

The attention she gets in the RCC detracts from the Savior. That "Mary" is not in scripture.

MIRIAM was a blessed woman of G-d and the Mother of Yeshua, but that is as far as it goes.

There is no reason for the Catholics to warship Miriam as Deity. she is not.

O.k. my question is than, what do you consider ''the true church''?
Protestants had there inquisitions also... Calvin judged and killed some people himself... And Luther gave orders...
My family couldn't get help from the Deutsche Evangelicalls..
the K.K.K came out of the GermanDutchReformed Church... o.k. they did split up...

Organisations make mistakes and sins... But I'm not shure what the real Church is than?
The one that might give me headeaches because of their missionary actions?

The "real church" is not any denomination, hierarchy, or building. It is everyone who believes in Jesus as Messiah, our atonement.

I would go so far to say that one of the ways we know that a "church denomination" is false is it's claim to sole authority, and forcing it's extra-biblical doctrines on the rest of us.

Aside from that, I think we can agree that there are men/women who are intentional hypocrites for the sole purpose of exalting themselves to a position of power...never having conviction of the "thing" they professed to believe (not limited to "religion").
