What about all the people who claim to be Christian but insist on judging others??????
Excuse me wk, just speaking of my experience growing up in a very mixed culture, and still living in that mixed culture. And the vast majority of Catholics *I know*, who were born into Catholic families, baptized, first communion, confirmation, and went to perochial schools, etc, think that Catholic and Christian are different "religions"...clean up your own house. I'm the one always telling them they ARE Christians.
Deut20-21,
I'm also just a Jewish boy... Been on Secular and Protestant and Katholic schools also, not that I was a Christian.
I know quite some good stories about Catholics who tried to save lives of others. And yes I liked some books and sayings of Bonhoeffer wo returned back while he was going to the U.S.A. to help mainly his fellow Christians in Germany.
But what frustrated my family more I think, was the Evangelical Church, who pretended to be more Loving-kindly towards Israel etc. but during the war also let my family starve (well they where not entiteled to get help).
Noah didn't reply on my post about true church, and also didn't question yet who not all churches should ask forgiveness and do better...
But anyway. I feel quite o.k. The Almighty bought us after the waters of Egypt. And I don't need ''loving'' churches to be supported by. I have some Catholic and Protestant friends, so indeed maybe there are exeptions on the rule... Often Churches make the rules, not the people. People should also question there own responsibility.
And who is a real ''Christian''??? I think only Jesus, or maybe only even God can deside that...
Who says Born-again is a garanty to be a good/rightious person etc.? A lot of Jews who where born-again, where killed also during WW-II, sometimes just because of there Jewish background the Churches (plural) didn't trust these Jews of being real christians.
It is not for us to judge who is “saved” and who isn’t. I look around this forum and see posts of spiritually arrogant people who judge the faith of others. “I’m born again but this person certainly is not. If only they were just like me.” How arrogant! Look at some excerpts from this thread:
“And today they continue to hate Jews”
“And it's not likely they are going to change anytime in the future”
“I notice that people who are not authentic Christians…”
“most Catholics, who, sorry, but I don't think of as being "born-again"”
“People who choose to be Catholic don't become Christians. It's an either - or kind of situation, you can't be both.”
Statements like these do not show any thankfulness whatsoever for the gift of faith. They only show pride, arrogance, judgment, and hatred rather than love – all this from people who claim to be “born-again”. God loves a humble and contrite heart, not a judgmental arrogant one. Do not take your place at the head of the table lest you be asked to give up your seat for someone more important in God’s eyes.

Mr. Kirscher, that's the point that I've been trying to make, too.
Look at some excerpts from this thread:

Tell my Jewish Catholic family and friends that; alright, Ripley's?
“And it's not likely they are going to change anytime in the future”

“most Catholics, who, sorry, but I don't think of as being "born-again"”

To Ripley's, deut_20-21, et. al., I'm sure that my denominationally-Catholic, gentile cousin Shoshanna who is a strong Christian would like to hear that.

As Mr. Kirscher alluded to, "Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand." (Romans 14:4, NKJV)
Well, I believe that our world is soon headed into some real disasters, not natural, but wars and I recall what Jesus said, about the end being like a woman in childbirth.
And I am trying to give warning, because I have seen a lot of people hurt by believing that Catholic's are just another denomination -- look at the tens of thousands (probably, even a hundred thousand,) kids in this country who have been raped by priests; I am not saying that Protestants are perfect, nor that I never sin (though I don't do stuff like that!,) but I am trying to say that when we see them do such things (ie., read newspaper accounts,) that we can be certain, that whatever they claim, that they have not changed their ways wrt Jews.
I was once involved in a real personal war with the state, my wife at times has been profoundly disabled and we ran afoul of a lesbian social worker who, my guess is, didn't exactly like Christians.
And I can tell you that the God of the Bible is on his throne and continues to answer the prayers of his kids!! But still, both my wife and I had a great deal of trouble.
But I had to really go to war (nothing physical,) but pray? Oh yes. "Funny" thing, I didn't have to pray for hours or do anything except to tell God that we were in a real jam. Their was a court hearing later that day, I went to the hospital and learned the other side had folded. Once my wife was released the hospital fired that social worker -- she lost her accreditation and works for an insurance company today.
And for some other reasons I won't get into I can say that I've been in a few spiritual battles -- and my reason for posting the remarks I did is that I am trying to warn Jewish people, especially Jewish Christians, that their are still some pretty ugly people out there. And I see the cults as targeting Jews and I'm trying to give them some help.
So, when I see our world today and I see the Pope and Catholics generally making nice to Jews, I worry.
And because I live in the US and read a newspaper!! I see the stuff that priests in the Catholic church have done and this makes me pretty certain that they are not Godly men and women who love our Lord.
Because I know that Christians are managed by Jesus, and not for a second do I think that Jesus would tolerate the things that have been happening in the Catholic church for at least the last 50 or 60 years, (and that's all that we know about.)
And by the way, as to who an authentic Christian is, well, it starts by one saying that they are a Christian, (remember Jesus told us to tell others when we get saved, not to keep it a secret!)
But what do people in the Catholic system do? They don't call themselves Christians, in fact many take exception to that label, they call themselves Catholics.
Wrt my remarks and Mr. Wkirscher criticism's, (For example, I once was in a Catholic church assembly, -- as a visitor, and Cardinal Law showed up. He spoke, and, speaking from the pulpit, he mocked people who call themselves "born-again". So did another person, a lay person.) So if they themselves make these remarks, please don't get after me for saying I don't think of them as "born-again". NOTE: This incident was more than 10 years ago, we (my wife and I,) were invited to attend a singing event at a Catholic church by a Boston family that my wife and I are friends with.
You know, in the Christian religion (what a horrid word, but I don't no what other term to use,) we see that the important people are servants, not the self-important.
I admit to a lot of faults, and my wife, who has schizophrenia, is a much more important person than I am when it comes to the Christian church.
I told her the Gospel, I "converted" her (actually, I didn't convert anyone -- it's the Holy Spirit who does this, not me!!,) but for many years she's outdistanced me in so many ways.
But I stand by my statements wrt the Catholic church organization because I believe that we actually are living in the times near the end; ie., I believe that we are at the beginning of the end and I think the Catholic church will be a major player. Read your Bible -- don't take my word for these things. See if you think what I am saying is Biblical by checking with the statements of our Scripture. (Because when I read about a city built on seven hills, I look at Rome, not Jerusalem.)
I live in Massachusetts and I guess we're a little further along in some ways than say, the mid-west.
I have some other things I might say -- but I doubt if I'd be believed. But, you know what, if I had my way, I would have chosen to avoid these problems entirely. That family crisis I remarked on, it was much worse than I have said here. The state wanted to take my wife away, I believe, because we are Christians, and the social worker didn't like people like us.
I was fighting in many ways. I had written up a white paper and I had retained a firm that normally works for lobbyists, to take my description of events and give it to each member of the Massachusetts legislature -- that caused the opposition to decide that maybe they didn't want to fight us after all...
About Jesus, He loves us. About that their is no worry.
I'm sorry Mr. Wkirscher that I seem so imperfect -- it's because I am.
I want to end this note by reminding others that our God is the God of the Bible, that He is in charge of all things, all events, all circumstances, and yes, even all people. Nothing happens without both his knowledge and consent.

deut_20-21, you can't go and be consciously and intentionally legalistic. We all struggle with legalism; but just as we can't get away with a "laissez-faire" attitude, we can't have a "walk the chalkline for your own sake" attitude either. If we could walk any chalkline by ourselves, we wouldn't need to be Christians (Galatians 1:6-10).
It is not for us to judge who is “saved” and who isn’t.
1) Who said anything about who is saved and who isn't? I am saying that MOST CATHOLICS
DON'T SEEM TO KNOW THAT THEIR DENOMINATION
IS CHRISTIAN...
2) Which denomination
is it though that claims SOLE AUTHORITY on earth?
I seem to remember something about "casting stones"...
YoY, I think you should really READ WHAT I WRITE, intead of reading INTO what I write.
Yes Ripley’s I know what you were pointing out. But then you follow up with “ .. but in the end I just feel sorry for them. They have been denied the freedom of the Son by the very institution that claims to be His church.” So you shouldn’t be surprised to see others putting you in the same category as the person who in less than 5 posts to this thread has:
- judged all Catholics as not being born again
- labeled all Catholic priests and leaders as rapists
- labeled all Catholics as Jew-haters
- labeled the Catholic Church as the “Whore of Babylon”
- stated that he wants to “prevent Catholics from being seen as good models of Christ, because they stink!”.
- stated that he wants “people to see the Catholic church as dangerous”.
- attempted to justify his behavior by “admitting” his imperfection
This judgmentalism and “Whore of Babylon” theology reeks of Fundamentalism. It’s a person saying, “sorry you can’t be saved because you are not like me”. So when a person like this goes out to “save” Catholics, the first response is going to be “I’m not a “Christian” [like you], I’m a Catholic”, and, right or wrong, the door closes on them.
