hello everyone,
my name is steve and i go by the name cyberlizard everywere, google me, you'll find me. I never use socks as i think they are dishonest.
Anyway... at the outset i would just like to say, I am not jewish by birth. My path down this road started last year after a neck injury. Due to boredom, i began to translate Matthew from the greek and was amazed by what is not their. From their I springboarded into jewish roots type theology. Unlike many others in our church (which is pentecostal/charismatic) we only eat clean foods, keep shabbat, celebrate the feasts, and keep as much of Torah as current circumstances allow. Many people think were mad. My wife's sister goes on with the 'oh you're mixing law and grace and you can't do that....blah blah blah', my wife's mother says 'but jews can eat pig now as jesus freed them from the law', but strangely her dad is exactly the opposite and seems to be finding an affinity with our new practices (which is very odd as we expected him to be our strongest critic).
life is strange, YHVH is good and his redeemer gratefully acknowledged.
Steve the Torah observant gentile believer.

Hey, Steve- welcome! Glad to see a familiar "face" here!

Steve, what if I said Jesus expanded shabat 6 more days, would you keep them too and rest from your labors?
Cyberlizard,
Here's a good "sh'eliah" for you to use against your accusers:
If Yeshua declared all foods clean in Mark 7 when Sh'mon Kefa was present with him, why didn't Sh'mon ever eat any unclean meat for the next 10-15 years (Acts 10)?
Yeshua was raised on a Sunday during the Feast of Firstfruits when he became what Sh'aul called the "firstfruits" of the resurrection -- yet which New Testament verse say that Sunday replaced the permanent Shabbat kept the gentiles (Acts 13:44-48)?
Is keeping the Shabbat one of the 10 commandments? If so, shouldn't changing it require at least 2 or 3 clear and direct witnesses of Scripture rather than an argumentum ex silencio?
What does Isaiah 66:22-24 say that Yeshua will do with people who don't keep the Feasts and Shabbat? How will they be put on display?

You misuse Scripture, Shabbis Goy; and your username is appropriate (Isaiah 29:13-14, Mark 7, Acts 15, Romans 1-6, 9-14; Galatians 1-5).

Shabbid Goy,
I believe the answer regarding Peter is that Jewish Law was deeply ingrained in him so that even though Jesus said, " What makes a person unclean is not what goes into his mouth; rather, what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him unclean!" He went on to say, "Don't you see that anything that enters the mouth goes into the stomach and passes out into the latrine? But
what comes out of your mouth is actually coming from your heart, and that is what makes a person unclean", Peter still could not bring himself to change what was habit for him. ~Matt 15~
I believe James elaborated on this thought by saying, "Yes, the tongue is a fire, a world of wickedness. The tongue is so placed in our body that it defiles every part of it, setting ablaze the whole of our life; and it is set on fire by Gei-Hinnom itself.
For people have tamed and continue to tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures; but the tongue no one can tame — it is an unstable and evil thing,
full of death-dealing poison!" ~James 3~
This being said, I respect people who desire not to eat what they perceive as unclean. However my faith is not judged according to what I do/don't eat but "who" I place my Faith/Trust in.
Eph 2:8 For you have been delivered by grace through trusting, and even this is not your accomplishment but God's gift.
Eph 2:9 You were not delivered by your own actions; therefore no one should boast.
Shalom!
Sam

And each is convicted individually, we each have a relationship with our Lord, Abba... and no daddy treats his children the same, even though he loves them the same. They/we are unique and in need of individual guidance according to their personality(ies).
So, for one something might be a stumbling, for another, not. Let each person walk the walk the Lord has shown
them. (Like Paul and celebacy, not for everyone.)
Let the Potter make us, form us. Not us (trying to) form eachother. Amen?
it is always good to know that no matter where you go, a simple introduction and word of testimony can always degrade into a theological argument.

Amazing, isn't it?
Hopefully you will ignore all that and stick around anyway, LOL.
Again, welcome!

Would you say that the way the Lord has directed you is the path He would have everyone on? (You started it.

I ask sincerely because I, a gentile, am feeling lead to understand the scriptures and Messiah from a Jewish perspective...the reason I am here on this site/forum...leading me to reject some practices in favor of others. Not in a legalistic way, but as a way to have a more intimate walk, personally. And to lead my child to grow as the priest of his home.
