Hello & Shalom :-),

Any advice on this situation?...My teenagers friend attends our Christian church youth group. His grandfather has just passed away and he was Jewish.

How do we witness to them the Love of Christ in this situation?  What are we to say if/when they ask questions of us as to whether or not their grandfather is in heaven or hell.  My child wants to be prepared to speak the Truth in Love to this friend and family but also be understanding as they are grieving the loss of their loved one.

Thank you all in advance for any help with this situation.

God Bless you.

Speak history, speak hope and leave all judgment to G-d.
Concentrate on the hope of Israel after all... Y'shua is hidden in all their biblical traditions.

1Co 10:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;  (2)  And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;  (3)  And did all eat the same spiritual meat;  (4)  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Eph 2:11-13 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called uncircumcised by those who call themselves the circumcision (that done in the body by the hands of men)  (12)  remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.  (13)  But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

shalom in Jesus Name

The best thing to do is be quietely supportive of them.
If they ask where grandfather is after death, just tell
them it is up to G-d to decide, not man.
The last thing any family member needs to hear is what
they would consider unkind remarks concerning their
grandfather.

And other than saying you are sorry for their loss, why is
it necessary to use a death as a event to witness to someone?
That seems awfully cruel, an exploitation of a family tragedy.

Or by "witness", do you mean as in being spiritually
supportive of them in their time of loss? In that case,
just be a quiet, supportive friend.

I think you miss the point

What are we to say if/when they ask questions of us as to whether or not their grandfather is in heaven or hell.

if they ask  christians you expect us to water down our beliefs?  i would not.

ForhisGlory if they ask you just tell them the truth in love as other had said.

What watering down? I would hope people would act compassionately.

How do you personally know what the grandfathers beliefs were when
he died? How do you know how G-d judged that particular individual?
Sugarman,

The true answer to "where you are going" was already posted.

It is up to G-d.

If somone ask you from your beliefs where the person went I will have to  go by The core of mine beliefs.

But I dont know the heart so he could made his life right with God or not.

serach yes  in away you might disagree with me but I see the answer little different.

i see what you do and how choose to live your life being the asnwer where you go.

I believe we are made with choice and  the Decision is made how you live your life. if you live it for God heaven against hell.
Sugarman,

I fully understand your beliefs and respect them.

I just don't think it is an appropriate place to discuss "heaven and hell" as you believe.

Think of the scenario; a little kid asks where grandpa went, then remembers that grandpa is not a believer in jc.

Do you think it is an appropriate time to tell this child your belief that grandpa is in hell? Not only is it inappropriate for the child at this time, think of how it will affect the rest of the mourners.

Now I know you have strong beliefs and you want to get your point across, but there is a time and a place for everything.

It is a grieving period.
