I was discussing JFJ with a Christian friend who is not on-line and he asked me how non-Christian Jews respond to John 1:11-13. I would really appreciate a response to this question from someone out there on JFJ.
"He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God." (New Living Translation)
Kind Regards

DavidJ,
The answer is simple. The Jews knew that jc had not fullfilled any of the messianic prophecies as it is written in the Tanach.
The Jews didn't return to Israel, as a matter of fact they were dispersed.
Their wasn't peace in the land, as a matter of fact there were and always has been great wars.
Elijah hadn't ushered in the messiah, John didn't even know he was called "in Elijah's spirit" until jc told him so. John didn't "turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers.
The whole world still does not know of the G-d of Israel, that is why you are on this board right now.
And there are others as well.

They didn't know him because they was not born of him! They were still in the flesh. And most still are today.Because they had no changes.psalm 55:19
Romans 9:30 - 10:4
30What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. 32Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone." 33As it is written:
"See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
Romans 10
1Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
