Do the majority of Americans believe this? As a Christian I truly believe our greatest threat to world peace is Islam - AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE UP !

I wouldn't be so sure. Islam is a religion of deception.
My understanding of Islam is that is OK to hide ones true intentions if that means advancing the cause, and/or preserving once life and avoiding persecution.

Don't be so sure...there are powerful political and legal maneuvers ongoing in America. CAIR for one.
Besides, if we are anything like Europe, until they gain a large enough population, we won't see the effects. Here's something of interest:
