WARSAW, Poland (May 12) - Irena Sendler - a Polish social worker who helped save some 2,500 Jewish children from the Nazis by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto and giving them false identities - has died. She was 98.

Irena Sendler

A recent news story of Irena that shouldn't go unnoticed. For myself it's easy to "imagine" the circumstances and actions, though I ask: How would I have reacted, would I be as courageous?

Right now I'm just thankful that she showed it's possible act, because there are some things more important than just saving one's own neck.

wow! Sendler's List!

Thanks for posting that...I'd never heard of her.

In 1965, Sendler became one of the first so-called Righteous Gentiles honored by the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem for wartime heroics. Poland's communist leaders at that time would not allow her to travel to Israel; she collected the award.

King James Bible
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Shalom!!
