Do you know what God looks like from descriptions in the Bible ? Or do you need to buy pictures of Jesus ? Do you think of a 170 pound guy in Roman clothing, or is he robed with long hair ?Can you picture the throne of God ? Or are you soo worried you can't even think of any images when you pray you just trust that He's listening........

little story to go by, here....

there was a very wealth man who went away on a long trip, but before he left he told everyone close to him that he would give anyone an inheritance who found him.

Well the time was growing close for the wealthy man to end his long travel...and return on his own, and an evil king knew it.

So the evil king made an image and showed everyone, and quoted the wealthy man every time he showed the image.

Soon no quote the wealthy man every made was void of this image.

people were identifying the words of the wealthy man with the image.

and even in some cases, creating wonder songs and poems to honor the wealthy man, and attaching them to the image.

Well, Just Today....the wealthy man came back, and spoke... not many heard, (because they had begun only to hear what they saw) and you know only a few came boldly to him to say thank you....but unto them, he kept his promise, and gave to them the keys to the kingdom.

the end.

Kendra, I want to hear, and not rely on seeing what I hear..what I think about when I pray..is that the bible promises that even the prayers of those who have gone before...(died) come before the LORD as a sweet incense...prayer is one of the promises of eternal communion with God that does not 'end' when you die...read Revelation...concerning prayer.

pray always and believe...even that is a gift.

kimberly

P.S.  I always ask, this, too....

I know you have shown me the artists' recount of the LORD, but He dwells within you, right?

So, when are you going to show me the living LORD, it is enough for me.

Your question is very sweet and innocent Kendra and very poetic.  steven
Dear friend.
Dont be afraid to use your imagination. As for my self I have often been greatly inspired by looking at a crucifix. It has helped me to repent.
Also I know people who have seen the Lord. One woman died in an accident (abortion) in 1968 and was gone for 20 minutes until she came to again. She wrote a book telling about her encounter with Jesus Christ on the other side of death: "What did He look like. was He tall .. did He have a beard? I do not know, although I usually notice these things". However some years later she begged the Lord that He would help her make a painting of Him. He really did. He led her hand and drew an image of His Face.. the most wonderful Face. He is moderately smiling and His Eyes are most wondeful. A part from that He looks very much like on the old images.. the hair down to the shoulders.. beard (not too big).
Another woman I know, Kat - a most lovely lady in her seventies, very humble and beautiful - once stayed with an ill woman. The woman was not her relative but she had been asked to stay with her, since the ill lady had no one. So Kat stayed there holding watch the whole night praying for the ill person. Every time she stopped the woman would open her eyes and ask her not to stop. Kat had some health problems her self and she was anxious lest she would catch some infection. But she gave all her worries to Jesus, trusting in Him. In the morning the ill woman finally fell asleep and and my friend was looking at her, sad that she had to leave before the ill woman woke up. In that instant the ill woman opened her eyes. But it was not the face of the ill woman anymore. It was Jesus' Face.. Jesus eyes looking at my friend stading dumbfounded at the bed end, His eyes full of an unfathomable Love. Needless to say my friend walked the whole way home ( a rather long walk for a woman her age) smiling and giggling. Praising the Lord. I asked her almost breathless, as she'd told me of her experience: "What did He look like". She brought me to her homemade alter and pointed to a picture she had found some time after the experience. "He looked like that", she said. It was the picture of the Shroud of turin, was made by NASA.

I personally also love the picture called "The divine Mercy" made after the apparitions of Polish Faustyna Kowalska in the 40s. She had visions of the Lord. I always love the ways of expressing the Lords Love thru art.
Hope you can use this for something.

Things like Christ Jesus in a blue and white robe hugging me.

Yeah.
Katarina;

I am all for imagination!  I just wish to make a difference between WORSHIP (who we worship)  and creative recreational pursuit (when we use art supplies)

Katarina...do you believe Jesus is alive?  Do you believe scripture that He wants to visit you.  Not a go between, but visit you. do you believe that?

Do you believe that Jesus is God?  Do you believe that He appeared to others in a way that they could have recalled and made images of?

Do you know what the scripture says about the end times?

Katarina..I know He lives.  I know He saves, and has appeared to so many ...I know that God is the only thing the Bible says we should not make images of.   And yet we persist out of love, and as the bible says...

Love, covers a multitude of sins.

But for me, and I hope for you, the place I worship Him is called His.  And I should respect that He reigns there.  I should ask to have my sins left at the door so to speak.  And my own longing to create a image of Him, too.

Let the indwelling of His spirit reign more than ever in the house of the LORD.

the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk, the dead rise to life...when His spirit reigns...can that be said of any artistic image?

I want us to be more like Him, of course.

I cannot bring sight to the blind, or hearing to the deaf, nor cause the lame to walk, or raise the dead...and I can paint a million pictures of it having happened!! long for these things and pray about them...but only He can do them through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

long for His indwelling.  Crave it.  Replace the natural with the Spiritual in that one respect.

Katarina, I cry out for a generation(maybe now living!) that will one day be unable to discern from 'christian imagery' and those of a powerful delusion, and wonderous miracles...that are to become worldwide!

Here is the saddest news I have ever read in the scripture:
Rev 13:14,15
And with all the miracles he was allowed to perform on behalf of the first beast, he deceived all the people who belong to this world. He ordered the people of the world to make a great statue of the first beast, who was fatally wounded and then came back to life. He was permitted to give life to this statue so that it could speak. Then the statue commanded that anyone refusing to worship it must die.

Just don't use the imagery, but proclaim Him alive, and on His way to visit you, me, and ANY who believe, in person.

The difference will become the statue brought to life and the miracles attributed to the image of the beast...

Kim

Hear me out, can you recall when in the bible any came in contact with the LORD or the angel of the LORD...they were almost thrust into a posture of obeiscience, this is not to say what you recount did not happen...But where is the WORSHIP and the posture of worship...????

I cannot but wonder if there could have been an angel of the LORD in the midst of you there...but cannot see the LORD appearing, and we not falling to our knees and our tongues confessing He is LORD...can you?  honestly?  EVER?

bye for now.

Katrina, I saw the L-rd in someone like you describe. I was in prayer with the person, and I was shown the L-rd walking down a dirt road and He like went into the dirt of the road and came up again as the person I was praying with, like their body was the "dirt" He was in. I was in shock, and when I opened my eyes, I could still see Him in the person, like they were the "dirt suit" He was wearing.

I started to sob, still in shock, patting this person's face, telling them what I was seeing, and telling Him how much I loved Him, the whole time touching their/His face. It was the most real thing I have ever seen, and it lasted about 10 minutes. The glory was so strong around us, you could feel it. HE IS ALIVE. Blessings.....
I, a lot of times, write while I pray and have a vivid imagination. I pay attention to the Lord getting my attention through scriptures that keep showing up to me on the same subjects, I have a very dramatic daydreaming ability so when I pray for protection and salvation for others, I picture swords and shields protecting my loved ones and when I thank the Lord I'm hugging Him with my heart. I see the Lord's affection when He allows animals to come up to me and when He catches my attention with some type of little critter, including bugs. I can go on and on about this one. Praying without Ceasing is a very real wonderful benefit of being Saved!
