Will no one stand by their beliefs when public opinion is against them?

It does not matter how offensive the idea is, nothing happens on Earth without God's knowledge or permission. To suggest otherwise is to say that God is either not in control or not omnipotent. He is both in control and omnipotent. Therefore, the Holocaust was allowed by God for some reason. Perhaps, as Hagee originally said, it was to motivate the Jews to move to Israel.

I agree with Hagee's original statement, but I think that it is too simplistic, as well. I believe that the Holocaust was a hint of the future and was not meant solely for the Jews: one day a man will arise and turn the world to hate the Jew. Christians call him the antichrist. The Jews will once again be hunted down--fulfilling Zechariah's words that 2 out of 3 will be taken. And the world will be judged in righteousness because we will have agreed that the first Holocaust was a mistake and an abomination, but we will have willingly repeated it anyway.

For those of us who read the Bible as an integrated work by one Author, it does not take a genius to see that Hagee was right in his conclusion: God is in control. God giveth and taketh away (our families, our nations, our very lives). Blessed be the name of the Lord. His Word will be fulfilled as He intended.

We are on the verge of another holocaust, sad to say. Scripture confirms this. To refuse to look at the hard truth is to go into the future unprepared. In the past, God always gave a warning to His people about what was about to happen. The first holocaust, I believe, was a warning. We can embrace the hard truth that the holocaust had God's permission and ask the question, "what can we learn from the first holocaust and from scripture to minimize the damage to Jews in the next one?"

Or we can ask the sad, sad question of whether or not we are willing to be watchmen on the wall and proclaim the coming danger in light of public opinion.

Have some integrity and fortitude, Hagee.
