Hello to other members,

this is my first post and I see many people here are very helpful in answering questions.

I was tryng to determine if anyone knew the actual date of the crucifixion and found by researching the Internet that there is a lot of controversy and conjecture over this issue.

If you have any construcive ideas on this I would be pleased to see them. Perhaps we could put some ideas down and reach a consensus from the known facts.

I have plenty of questions about other issues too, so if there is a member who is good at answering difficult questions, I would be happy to hear from you.

Regards,
Oanedus

Shalom Oanedus,  The only person who could answer your question, I fear, would be almost 2,000 years old, and have an exceptional memory.  As I understand, at least for the last 1,950+- years, everyone accepted that Jesus/Yaushuah was executed at Pasach, in 33 AD.  A few years ago, however, scientific types showed that Yaushuah was probably born in 6 BC, and since then, everyone wants him crucified in 27, 28, 30 AD, and so on, so that He could still be 'about 30,' according to scripture.  From what I have studied, I believe he died in 33 AD (as always thought), which leads to a juicier question:  'How old was He when crucified?'  Using the concept that a generation is 14,000 days  (apx. 38.33 solar years), the time calculated that Yisrael was in the 'wilderness,' He would have been born at Feast of Tabernacles, and executed Pasach, 32 or 33AD.  That would make Yaushuah about 38.33 years old, at execution, coupled with almost 38 years later the destruction of the Temple, as He Prophecied.
His date of birth comes from extrapolating when Herrod died (4BC), coupled with the birth of John the Baptizer, son of Zecariah, the priest (too lengthy a study for this 'simple' (ha) answer, I offer).  Few will hold to my above, so don't get excited if people does not like what I have said.
Oh-yes, this is my first post, on this site, as I just joined a few minutes ago.
Shalom to all in the name of Yaushuah, Arley Steinhour

Why cling to a date? The point is that He died on the cross for our sins. When is not relevant or important since today is always the acceptable day of salvation. I'm not trying to be flippant or rude, only that some controversies in Christianity won't be solved until we can ask the Lord ourselves.

However, I would start with Brianroy's post #5 in "three days and three nights" here at J4J that explains what day Christ died. You can never go wrong with Brianroy's work.
Oanedus,
You will never have an accurate answer.

It is not even known when he was born let alone when he died.

You only have a historic "time frame" to go by.

Since many of the books of the nt were written many years after his death, some by people who never even met him, there are many conflicting theories.

searchin,
You have chutzpah. You don't even like the Brit Chadashah, or else you'd be a Messianic (Christian) Jewish person.

I would only add to this that Moses didn't meet Adam, Noah, or Abraham either, but God brought it all to him, just like the writers of the NT that weren't present at events... and God gives us details that He wants us to know and for a purpose.

I am with rev320, the detail is not important (God doesn't want us to focus on the year... the DATE is important, but not the year. Also why we don't know when Jesus was born... his birth is not where we are to focus -IMO- or God would have given us the date on that too.)

My two cents... ; )

Hey, rev... thanks for that link.. it was a GREAT post!
Welcome to both of you!

NavyBlue, I've read a lengthy article on Y'shua's birth being then also and it made perfect sense to me too.

Shalom, ya'll.
Hello all,
thanks for your considered responses, esp. Navyblue who went to a lot of effort to provide an academic answer.
I will do some research on the subject during the week and will post my findings next week.
Regards to all,
Oanedus

I am more than glad to bring to Brianroy up. I don't know if he is still around here, but that guy was a warehouse of Biblical knowledge. I always learned a lot from him. When you get bored, you should read through some of his posts. Polite, calm, and knowledgeable. This is what Christians should aspire to.
