God is so wonderful, and the names of God in scripture help us finite creatures know more about our infinite God.
When I was talking with an intertribal church some years ago about the name of God as translated into their language, I realized that I did not know all the names of God revealed in scripture that I later heard grade school kids recite in front of their church. Eventually I found a helpful site (allaboutGod), and made individual cards to try to memorize them and get them into my head a little better. I would like to post them here, in a one name/one thread fashion. Those who know Hebrew will probably have other spellings or treatments, and that would be welcome to see, but mainly the specific name and applicable verses are what I am going for here.
EL is another name used for God in the Bible, showing up about 200 times in the OT.
EL is the simple form arising from ELOHIM, and is often combined with other words for descriptive emphasis.
EL HaKadosh
The Holy God
Isaiah 5:16 - But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
