There is no comparison. They both had elements that contributed to a "following", not to mention livelihood. Not unlike the music of Korn and many other seemingly modern concepts developed from older concepts.

If you are old enough you, know what goes along with stereotypical imagery, and the market niche. YOU ARE AN UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL. YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN CALLING AND ELECTION SURE.

If you want someone to "dislike" or ignore you, find out what that person is about and do the opposite.

It's hard to listen to people's music or appreciate their craft sometimes
as you get older and find out the principles that guided their life. Yet their contributions remain for example in whatever light.

For instance, if you are a family man why would you walk in a hobo's shoes for any length of time?

It's like Tom Cruise said in one of his movies, "Love it or leave it."
I don't really know what you are saying here cor... it's a bit "chadesque" LOL

But as to secular music, I sometimes listen to secular music still. And the vast majority of it is still the human experience of heartbreak, failure, anger, disappointment, or human love (eros).  But admit it is hard to listen to and enjoy, say, John Lennon, or the Beatles together, knowing how much he/they influenced a generation to sin. (But I adore his song "Beautiful Boy" written for his, then baby son, Sean Lennon.) I also love music by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. And the Foo Fighters, etc, too.. lol. (Some of each, not all.)

I also appreciate other forms of art; plays, movies, concerts, paintings, sculptures, spoken word, poetry, etc. It all speaks of our human nature. Able to recognize beauty and agonize in pain. The human experience, common to all, believers and unbelievers alike.

But there's a lot of trash out there too.

And spaeking of Tom Cruise, hard for me to watch him knowing he is a faithful and staunch Scientologist.

LOL@Chadesque

Just say "no" *L*
They say, Baptists' pray for anything and everybody, I was raised Baptist.

I  had a son out of wedlock when I was 17. I served in the Navy. I am a convicted felon. I have worked over 40 different jobs in my lifetime, everything from farm supply to professionally commisioned artwork. Quitting some jobs, getting fired from some, and finding out I was overqualified and underqualified for some. Some say I have a mental illness, some say it is demonic influence. Some say it is chemical imbalance. I have been an alcoholic by some estimates and a drug addict by others. I have struggled with pornography. I was molested as a child and put in solitary in the state prison system. I've flown in Jets and been 25 miles out in an 18 ft. boat.

At one time I thought the Victoria Secret's models were in love with me.
I have almost commited suicide twice. I have crossed the equator, and
sailed the bermuda triangle.

I have won Employee of the year for an International company. I finished in the top 90% Basic Enlisted Submarine School. I have a 4.0
GPA At CPCC and CVCC in Architectural and Graphic design. I have done illustration and design work for a Bible publisher. I have been published in a local newspaper. I have been on a local Television station. I purchased my own home and two acres of land and pickup truck and had them all taken because of lack of work, and a tricky repo man.

I have rescued many people off the side of the road, some drunk, some broken down or out of gas, one seriously beaten. I continue to pick up hitchhikers. I will pray for anyone that asks, according to the will of God. I memorize bible verses, and I like to draw and sing. I give to the church and give blood. I have volunteered for the prison fellowship ministry. I have visited the nursing homes. I have taught kids Sunday School. I boast as a fool.

I have been kicked out of church, and asked to attend. I have performed CPR twice, and one of the recipients lived. I was water baptized in 1982, and the Holy Ghost as the Father still tells me when I grieve him. Jesus is real to me and alive for me because He died and rose again for me.

Basically I am just a nobody, telling anybody about somebody that can save everybody. I am getting used to the fact everybody doesn't like me, and that Jesus loves me. And a few close friends are better than many acquaintances far away. I pray that somewhere, someone will understand that even when you don't understand or can't figure out how God could possibly use you or still love you after meeting with the two imposters, failure and success, many, many times, that they would look at the grace I have been partaker of, and realize that Jesus Christ is Lord, HE LOVES YOU and He can use ANYBODY.

Have a wonderful time in the Lord. DH Smile

RE: Sneakin in a Testimony

You have quite a 'resume' there cor!! And weren't a "sneaky" as maybe you thought! : )

I have quite a varied, and marred, as well as blessed history, too. People can say alot of things about me, "boring" isn't one of them...LOL

Praise God! He uses the foolish things to confound the wise.

For the record, I have and continue to like you, even if I don't agree with everything you say.
I carry a note of seriousness at times. Just a short experience with
Satanic forces, even through my own ignorance, has driven me hard into
the Word of God and His love in Christ Jesus.

I appreciate all of you here being able to understand. Here is a scriptural explaination,

He that is forgiven much loveth much. (me)
For my love they are my enemies. (King David)
The Lord shall protect me and deliver me from every evil work.(Paul)
There is an open door for ministry , but many adversaries. ( Paul)
We wrestle not with flesh and blood. (Paul)
He performeth that which is appointed for me, and many such things are with him. (Job)
May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. (Apostle John)

Shalom

And me too. I totally know what you mean. There aren't enough tears for me to shed on His feet...
cor517, To me, that is one of the best testimonies I've ever read because it was HONEST down to the bone. I would not have the nerve to list the things about me that you listed about yourself in humility. Reminds me of this:
Cardboard Testimonies

If only all believers were this honest, how we could reach the world.

Why do you take credit for the words of Jesus of Nazareth?

Quote:

Luke 7:47
Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”
