In the end of the XI century (1095), Christian Crusaders from Europe marched to the Holy Land to conquer Jerusalem from the Muslims. With a army mainly formed by knights and templars, it only took 4 years for the Christians to capture Jerusalem and rule the holy city for nearly a century, resisting many battles against the Muslims. They modified and turned the existing Islamic holy temple into their own. The crusaders then plotted to attack Egypt. Only until head of state of Islam and Caliph of Egypt, Saladin conquered Syria and opposed is army to Baldwin IV, Christian king of Jerusalem.
This bloody battle took place in Syria, on Jacob's Ford (near the Jordan river) in the summer of 1179. For a lot of scholars, this was the battle that led to the recapture of Jerusalem by Sultar Saladin 8 years later (1187). It took 5 days until the castle of Jacob's Ford collapsed under intense fire, with over 700 crusaders captured and more than 800 Christian casualities.
~Questions for Christians~
What was the purpose of Christians in Jerusalem back then?
How have Christians contributed to the exile of Muslims in Israel throughout the times?
A few more questions for Christians:
Since Israel is populated by Jews and Palestines... where did all the Christians go? Did they suddenly lost interest and gave up on Israel after so many centuries of battles against the Muslims?
Or are they still present with their military army oppressing the Palestine people more and more?
What was their purpose in Israel back then? What is their role in Israel today?
Are they peace keepers now?
Please help me with this topic.
Why is the question for Christians???
1. religiously and politically driven there where different Kings over Jerusalem...
The Sicilian-German Frederik-II of Hohenstaufen, married on the 9th of November with the Queen of Jerusalem... against the will of the Pope, but as Ceasar of the RomanHoly Empire... (there is partly the German-Italian Katholic conflict). He spoke as a Cicilian Arabic too.
After Salaghadin it was Saver for the Jews to return, than under Christians... Saladin also invited the Rambam etc. Christians didn't.
The 9th of November was more often celebrated by the Germans, in 1918, 1923, 1938 and the re-unification in 1989... Every culture has it's cults...
2. The Contribution is still in Turkey and Iran not forgotten how the Crusaders killed thousends of Muslims, and stole property etc.
Well here in Jerusalem are about 420.000 Jews 220.000 Muslims and about 20.000 Christians. since 1850 there is not realy a change in this percentagewise diversity...
Exept maybe that the last 5 years, a lot of Palestinian Christians moved from BethLehem to Jerusalem, because they can't stand anymore to live among the Palestinian muslims in BethLehem...
From the Christians that live here a large part are Palestinians, and by that a large part are Greek Orthodox. For the rest Armenians, Russians and Katholics mainly. Some Protestants...
I don't see a Christian Army, nor a Muslim one...
Simply because the Israeli army, only accepts Jews, Karaites and Druze in 1 Army, maybe here and there there is some Christian in the Israeli Army...
It's partly westernized... It's a State Army not a religious one...
Maybe the U.S.A. army might take Jews and Muslims into their army. But not in all situations it's suitible... Well I remember that Holland never took muslims into the Indonesian Army. Simply because of Hezbollah in Indonesia in the 1920's did excist, and where allready cooperating with the Comunists and Japan, against Holland.
So Israeli's don't trust allways Christians or Muslims.
It's only a few (less than 10) years ago that the Vatican did regocnize Israel as a State...
Still a lot off Christians find that all nations are 1 under Christ, and might not want to regocnize a Jewish state...
In that sence there are Christian Army's (of Missionaries), who want to undermine the Jewishness of the State.
The English and the Germans where the last Christians who tried to concur the area... Germans had a lot of Christian Knights here... But because a lot of them where also pro-Nazi they where kicked out (also by the British).
Lebanon has a gouvernement and Army that is partly Christian... And in the Zone between Lebanon and Israel Christian Army's where used the last decades...
Besides that the U.N. has partly there sometimes Christian goals... ''Peace keeping forces'' For some believe that people should create peace on earth and then the Messiah will come back'' = one of the statements of the Leage of Nations...
Off course there are peacefull Palestinian Christians and other people here.
In Israel are also mixed schools of Jews, Muslims and Christians together, besides Hospitalls, etc. etc. It's not all what you see on T.V.
Than the word Palestinian is too new, mainly Arafat invented that as a name of the people as a nation... Because they where all kind of nationalities etc. beforehand, mainly Ottomans or Jordanians later. Arafat was an Egyptian. So that national and spiritual war is also influenced by surrounding Nations.
Quote from Yetzirah:
"Maybe the U.S.A. army might take Jews and Muslims into their army. But not in all situations it's suitable... Well I remember that Holland never took muslims into the Indonesian Army. Simply because of Hezbollah in Indonesia in the 1920's did exist, and were already cooperating with the Comunists and Japan, against Holland.
So Israeli's don't trust allways Christians or Muslims."

Thank you. Point made.

RE:
And why not call every citizen that lives in Israel a Israelite? Why this distinction between Israelites and Palestinian?
When did the Jews come to play in Israel and how were they allowed to repopulate Israel? What movement took place for this to happen?
Or are they still present with their military army oppressing the Palestine people more and more?
What do you mean by Palestine People???
First off all that name is given for the people who lived here under English rule.
In the 5 years that I'm here I know all kind of Palesine people. Jews with a Palestinian passport, Christian Palestinians, Druzic Palestinians, Christian Palestinians, Karaite Palestinians...
The only thing that I see nowadays with Christians, is that some Christian Palestinians work in the TownHall of Jerusalem, just as co-workers...
And also Yesterday in Gaza 2 bombs went off. even Palestinian Christians are attacked by Palestinian Muslims, with bombs, threads etc.
That's why most Palestinian Christians moved to Jewish sections of Jerusalem...
Should Christians build their own army you think?
And what do you think about the Palestinian oppression towards the Jews? The Occupation of Jordan, and the West Bank by Muslims...?
What about the Oppression from Palestinians, by Egypt and Kuwait?
What about the Sudanese Christians and Pagans that had to flee to Isreal, because Egypt doesn't want to help them... And Palestine is almost Juden-and Christen-Rein, So Sudanese people might not want to be oppressed by that Palestinians eather?
Should we give the area back to Turkey. Instead of the U.N. who partly created this situation: the palestinians are the only people who are allowed to call themselves for 3 generations refugees... My father after the war, when he went from Eastern to Western Europe had to give in his nationality, no issue about 1st generation refugee...
Can you help me with this subject?
First of all let me thank you for your replies Yetzirah.

RE:
History proves that the Muslims were the native people of Jerusalem. So I don't understand what you mean when you say the Jews are being oppressed by the Palestine (muslims). Those people saw their land taken away from them and are now neglected and restricted by Israel's law and force. As far as I know there's no Palestine army in Israel.

RE:
Try watching "Is Israel a terrorist entity?" by John Pilger and face the facts. You can easily find this documentary on you tube.
Regards.
My apologies Yetzirah...
The name of John Pilger's documentary is
"Palestine is still the issue" and not
"is Israel a terroristic entity?"
I would also like to know why is Israel the fourth largest military in the world and why are the Israelis allowed to have nuclear weapons?
How was it possible for Israel's economy to afford and improve such army in less than 60 years?
I don't think it'd be possible at all... so the next question is...
Who provided all that amunition to Israel? Why? And for what reason?

When did the Jews come to play in Israel and how were they allowed to repopulate Israel? What movement took place for this to happen?
God gave it to them, Isaac's descendants. I belive it is Exodus.
In talking about "modern" history, Rome had custody of that land during Jesus' time and fully took it ALL from them at 70 AD. After that there were uprisings, that failed, and resulted in even harsher laws toward the Jews.
Constantine "converted" the Roman Empire to Christianity. So, that land became "Christian".
Muslims came and conquered, and later threatened the Byzantine Empire. The Crusades
started as the retaliation to that. Muslims did not occupy Jerusalem before that time, being "modern" themselves.
The land belongs to Israel. Given by God. And He has used UN to bring it back into being. It's all Him and has nothing to do with anyone else other than he used them as the tool.
It's all in the Book. Read it.
