Well, begin with your ethnicity and heritage. Are you just an African-American or an actual Jewish-African-American person? For example, with me, I had no idea that I was a Jewish-European American; and I always assumed that "Czarnecki" was just a Polish last name, but I found out that "Czarnecki" (pronounced "Charnetski") can be Yiddish-Polish.
I also discovered that in my case, "Czarnecki" was Yiddish-Polish instead of just Polish; and that up to my great-granddad, the Czarneckis have always married Jewish people. My great-granddad's mom was an Andrulewicz (Andrulevich) and his grandmother a Danilowicz (Danilovich), and all were born in Russian-occupied Poland. My great-granddad's dad converted to Roman Catholicism in some time, 1922 or earlier, and my great-granddad married a gentile Catholic named Trudnak.
The son of Trudnak and Czarnecki married a Gaydos; daughter of a Gaydos and Rusnak, and paternal granddaughter of Gajdos and Yzchinski. Gajdos may have also been Gidosh; so whether or not Gaydos was Jewish on both sides of the family is still being researched.
With you, begin with your last name and what ethnicities you know that you have.
hebrewgirl: I am an african american...looking for a way to be united and not feel like i have two sides to me.
Faith: Welcome!
Race is not the issue, faith in Christ is. Scripture shows every nation and land worshipping Christ (Chinese, African, Indian, European, Semitic, etc). The word of God came through the Jewish ~ Hebrew people (Semitic). Thus, holiness is defined by our *
character* in Christ according to His word...
'neither Jew nor Gentile... male or female, but all one (
atoned for)
in Yeshua.'
The ultimate outcome of Christ's atonement is He gathered all nations to Himself through which these nations become ingrafted into Holy Israel (Romans 11). So you are
one in Christ.
Israel is eternally beloved and memorialized in scripture for this covenant fulfilled
'...in you all families of the earth shall be blessed...'.
The blessing is Yeshua (Salvation). A look at scripture and history shows this was not an easy path. Thus, Jews are deserving of great love and honor, God and Israel through which all nations are blessed is the ultimate love story of the universe. The coming of the Gentiles to the Jews in the later days is already contained in scripture and happening now.
'Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.' Zechariah 8:23 (
This is beginning to happen and will increase.)
I noticed there seems to be a preoccupation with some about being 'Jewish' as if that meant greater. It doesn't, it means one does not recognize their worth in Christ or what God's word says because an unbelieving Jew and Gentile are the same in God's eyes ~ unatoned for. Thus, we don't have to be Jewish, we have to be Christ's.
Our eternal beauty, worth, acceptance, and magnificence is in Christ alone. Those in Christ automatically love His covenant people because Jesus does! It's an indicator of Christ's Spirit. Nevertheless, '
...neither Jew nor Gentile...' all one (
godly atoned for character)
in Christ.
Amen and God bless you!

hebrewgirl,
Don't be tricked by Faith, because Faith is more of a Judaizer than an actual Christian who lives her faith in Jewish way. For more on Judaizers, read Mark 7:7-13, Acts 15, Romans 2 and 14, Galatians 1-5, and Titus 1:14.
