Did y'all see Obama on O'Reilly on Sept 4? I found something he said very interesting, and I'm wondering why nobody on FOX is talking about it. Obama says, about 1:14, that the problem with Bush (and by extension, Republicans) is that we cannot distinguish between Shia and Sunni. He suggests that Saddam Hussein (a Sunni) is different from Al Qaeda (more Sunnis), and that Iran (Shia) is different from both of them. All terrorist networks, but different ideology.
Really??
Aside from those Muslims who don't follow their Koran and hadiths, and therefore are really nominal Muslims, I see very little difference in their ideology vis-a-vis America.
Don't Shia and Sunni believe that dar al harb will one day submit? (We are dar al harb; a harbi is "one under a declaration of war," and there are only two real positions for nonbelievers: a dhimmi--defeated territory--or a harbi, assuming that you don't see death as a third option.) Don't Shia and Sunnis both say they want to destroy America and Israel? Didn't Saddam Hussein give money and help to terrorist groups? Aren't the "peaceful" Sunnis in Saudi Arabia trying to destroy the American economy, and don't they have a program to "evangelize" every American by the year 2013, building hundreds of mosques each year? Can you say "Obamanian spin" in the "No Spin Zone"? Or would you just call it "Obaminable ignorance"?
I love what Obama says in the last part of the interview, that he would give money to the Pakis with strings attached. Hmm. How is he going to make sure that they only spend the money on going after terrorists? Sounds to me like the Bush aid plan for Palestinians: money for weapons. Looks like Obama will give us "More of the same" in different packaging.
FOX has already commented on Obama's "the surge worked/the surged failed" remarks. Can't wait to see the rest of the interview. I think Bill Clinton has met his equivocatory match.
