I love Dr. Schroeder!  I've read his books and heard him
lecture at Aish several times.

I'll watch the video when I have a chance....for everyone
else, read his books. They are phenomenal!
I LOVE science, and agree with the Dr. "Science can't conflict with Tanakh, they have the same Origin." [paraphrase] AMEN!

Thanks for this! (Listening now.)

Did you see "Expelled" by Ben Stein? The force of Darwinism in academia? (Similar things happening pertaining to Global Warming/Climate Change....politicized, anti-science.)

PS~ This is one of the many reasons that this is my son's last year in public school.

Observation/sidebar: heavy representation of Jews as Nobel Prize winners...coincidence? I don't think so.
The issue of "time" and "yom" in Genesis is a subject debated by theologians and scientists, Jewish and Christian.

I actually hold to a literal 24 hour (as WE know it) yom. IMO, this still fits within the "generations/day" that Dr. Schroeder talks about. A plethera (generations) of things had to happen during that "day" to create all that was created on that day.

What I mean is, I don't think that the earth and everything in it evolved, or even needed to...it "appears" that way, but God literally spoke things into existence, and *poof/bang/boom* there is was! Completed, mature, ready for man. He did not have to "wait" for amino acids to form, then a cell, then a multicilled creature, then higher forms, both plants and animals.

Neither did He have to have "explosions" of developement separated by millions of years. (Spontaneous -by design- generation/mutation, in other words.) Why wait millions/billions of years between "yoms"? Is it so much a leap to just accept His word "yom"? For some reason we have to accept the dating system that is based on supposition and theory, and largely on circular reasoning, and date fossils accordingly?

I reject ALL that.

The universe was created for OUR existence. It all has to support us; human beings. For that reason, the earth (and entire universe) needed to behave as a mature creation. Just like Adam couldn't wait for a seed to grow into food, he also could not wait for radiation to decrease for his existence. (Not to mention that there was no death before Adam's fall...NO DEATH. Not the death of "prehistoric life forms", stars, galaxies, etc. It was all created perfect and self-sustaining. Even we should live forever, today! Our cells replicate and our entire body "replaced" every +/- 7 years. Animals, and man for that matter, were vegetarians. No killing/death. The fall of man changed all that; all of the universe.)

Bottom line: do you believe that God created Adam mature? He formed a man, not an embryo, right?

Same goes with all of creation. *IMO* (emphasis on opinion, but based on scripture and science, or science through scripture.)
~~~~~~~
As for the "relativity" of time...God is not in our universe. He is not limited by the physical laws He designed for our existence. So, no, He does not experience/perceive time like we do. (Neither do the angels, or humans in the afterlife. Taken out of creation/universe and into 'out there' beyond time and space, and physical laws.)
~~~~~~~~~~

All of this said as a matter of honest debate, not putting others down, or just disagreeing to be disagreeable. I love to study this "stuff"!!
well I not sure where  i stand on how long it taken to created earth because what is time to God he is beyond it.

The bible says a day to God is our 1000 years.
