Proper Authority ~ 2 of 2

narnianut: Within the confines of the church and the home a woman is not to lead. (They back this with Scripture)

Citing Scripture, they argue that God has fore-ordained a role for women to be "keepers of the home."  This is not a degradation of women but a place of honor and necessity.

Faith: Amen. However, it is only the 'husband' who is the authority - not any man just because he's a man. See the woman before David on the request of Joab.

narnianut: Ok - with regard to my opinion - I'm stuck.  All of the above views come from sincere believers, most backed by Scripture.  I feel caught between all of the views.  So I was praying today asking God to give me clarification. (I am a college grad, stay at home mom)  So I thought - the best source to get a clear idea of what is Biblical and Cultural (in a Biblical context) is to go to my Messianic Jewish brothers and sisters and see what the role of women is in their culture.  What is seen as acceptable?

Faith: Distintions and 'case by case' basis in recognition of individual circumstances all within God's laws. Palin's husband has given the okay, her position is 'help meet' as requested and sought by the 'king" male authority - McCain.

God bless.
Well when it comes to the preservation of their children, even Moses would thankfully acknowledge how the Lord can use them:

"And the midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them.” (Exodus 1:19) Cheesygrin

"Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?” (Exodus 2:7) Cheesygrin Cheesygrin

And it's not as if the possiblity in the preservation for the children of Israel may not have another Arrow midwife within Israel today. Eek
