The practicality of the Psalms

Comparing the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, To pray for our enemies, and bless those that persecute you for righteousness sake,
and to turn the other cheek in situations of confrontation and abuse, it is easy to question at times King David's lament for God's enemies to be destroyed.

I do not want to forget that David was a man, nor do I want to forget the price our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ paid for our sins.

Survival was paramount in David's kingdom and his days. Only a small portion of the world were subject to God's laws. His defensive posture was justified in respect to self defense and the preservation of Israel and his family.

In the times we now live, those who would deliberately take advantage of God's own know better.

Therefore to see our enemy stumble and fall or experience a lesson in the curse God brings upon his enemies and the enemies of His people,
is not our ultimate aim, although the Lord May have no other alternative in bringing his enemies to realize the futility of fighting against Him or his own.
