Someone in another forum accused the mods here of reading
PMs and then deleting any that they did not like.

I told them that was untrue, that PMs are exactly that-
private messages. That mods do not read them.

But I told him I would come here and inquire....
Moderators don't have the ability to read PMs or delete PM's.

Just For everyones information.

A while ago, the ability to PM was eliminated from the board because there was no way to moderate PM's. Our concern was sometimes members would receive unwanted PM's, sometimes harrassing, sometimes vulgar, and as moderators, we had no way of reading these PM's, knowing this was occurring, or deleting the PM's.

After consideration, we decided to allow PM's. If members receive PM's which are harrassing or vulgar, please make a copy and forward the PM to me. At the same time, please PM the sender requesting that they cease sending you PM's. If the sender does not cease, forward a copies of the additional PM's to me, and I will PM the sender, informing them if they do not cease, it will result in Moderator actions, such as eliminating their ability to PM or being banned from the board.

This process takes some patience and interaction with the moderator since I am unable to see PM's. But it is felt that PM's are a good tool so we want to keep the ability to PM, but we also don't want members to experience unwanted or inappropriate PM's.

Thanks, Jans. I didn't think so.....I will relay the information
to the other person.
I think that if a PM account is rather full (not sure to what percentage), the message cannot be received.

When I get PMs, I make sure they are cleared out as soon as possible, and save to a Word document the content of those I need to refer to later.
