Full Version: Why is thanksgiving always on thursday?

The litteral answer is that Lincoln made it officially the fourth thursday of Of November.

But if you look at the prior history there seems to be a colonial past to thursday that George washington followed but we don't know exacly why.

Why the fifth day of the week, thursday?  Does it have anything to do with Sukkot being five days after the day of atonement?

What would a pagan thunder diety have to to with the Jewish festival of booths? Some Romans 1:20 seeing Gods power in nature thing?

Why would sunday parallel atonement day?  Why not friday?
