The bagel, I just pulled a tome by this title off the new book shelf area here at the library.
I always wondered about the Bagel. I haven't read it carefully yet, but the apocalyptic ending jumped out at me.
In 1986 they opened the worlds biggest bagel factory out west in a town called Mattoon. They had a gospel group but no clezmer band, nothing Jewish at all and at least one local Jew protested it. So in Mattoon they had the world's biggest bagel breakfast in 1986.
There are alot of wierd things about 1886, 1986 and "86", but I will let you figure out what they are for your self.
