This is the worst drougth in 80 years I read.  The average person hasn't felt it till now they are about to forbid watering lawns.  But the farmers felt it even before this since they relied on free rain rather than water piped in some of their places have no pipes. In addition to this a little sporatic rain is worse than none for the wheat farmers cause it sprouts but then rots, which is what has happened to them!

So, for prayer, I was wondering if anyone knew what all happened in a drught like this 6 years ago when a miracle happened and the sea of galilee rose a few meters in a few weeks with heavy rain after a drought like this.  What was the exact date, was it a sign and what else were people doing in the world that could have effected it?
Where did you read about the drought? In Israel, or everywhere? Thanks.
There's certainly a drought in Israel and our Sages have asked that people pray for rain.
To Krisi-I saw it in a Jewish paper called Hamodia.  Also, it is all over mainly, the whole region.  There can be small bursts of rain that help small areas though.  But over all the sea of galilee has been down so far they are warning of ecological damage.

Looking up more about it I found out that Israel gets about 22 inches of rain on average per year.  It relates to beutiful biblical images like Snow on Mount Hermon.  It melts and feeds the Jordan but is likened by sages to white bearded Rabbis in Psalm 33 I think it is.

They need about 10 storms per year each one with a few inches of rain.  that is what I understand, they get thier rain this way from November to March in small bursts.

Also, Damascus has an even bigger problem with no water.  They are less modern than Israel and their problem is more basic like not enough water to drink.

Orthodox Jews I have seen suggest a spiritual problem for this.  But neither they nor secular Israelis are getting the news out there that Christians need to pray for this for obvious theological reasons.

Wow, the more and more I hear, the more and more signs I see coming....
Praying for rain is good, for every country...

six years ago, I moved to Israel, in the beginning of Februari than it rained for weeks very hard indeed. In the army-base they where learning us what to do with gas-masks if it rained or didn't rain (for it was just before the American invasion into Irak).

But sometimes religious people and coorperations forget that we can do a lot ourselves for the wealth of the earth...

Abraham, Izaac, they where digging for water, for their animals...

The draught in the Lake of Galilee (kinerret), is also caused by farmers who use the water. So I saw last November the little ships not in the harbour, for the water at some spots was less then a meter deep.

They are building some water-filtration-plants near Haifa, to transport water to the east.... They will be ready about 2010, last year they said still in 2009.

My idea is that the nation(s), can build better systems.
For about the 50 kilometer that the lake is east from the meditairanian sea... The level goes down 200 meters. So after watertreatment near Haifa (one of the dirtiest harbours) You can pump the water and treat it by solar-energy... Than the transportation current is going down, that will go automatically.
While the water has to go down, you can build some small dams, to get electricity... And some fishponds, for healthy fishfood for the Israeli's...

With that water you can mainly help some farmers (who don't have to rely onand take the water of the Jordan river. Besides that, some towns like Afulah and Tiberias can make use of the water...  Tiberias is a hotter place than Tel Aviv, so the citizens need the extra water.

But I'm afraid that some day it might be too late if people don't do something. If the lake-water starts to reach lower levels than some ground water. The water in the lake might get suddenly spoiled and a lot of fishes will be killed etc. Than it will take maybe decades to recover the thing.
