I have been really sick recently.  I know you female types would have made me go to the doctor by now.

I think I have Hereditary Fructose Malabsorbtion.  I ate five nice big grapefruits last monday and it seemed like not a bit of the fructose was absorbed.

My liver was sore.

I could taste blue agave sweetener I had been useing for  a couple of weeks in my mouth as if toxic or something.

I thougth I had celiac sprue years ago and my vegan diet seemed to work but only because I imagine everything I ate was from scratch with no fructose in it.

My dad said I looked pale, but I think I was starting to get jaundice, a sign of Hereditary Fructose Malabsorbtion.

No wonder the doctors never figured it out.  There is'n't much out there on it.  It is one in 20,000 northern european types.  Rare.

But I just at a some rotiserie chicken after I made sure they didn't inject it with some kind of sugar.

By the way, it can cause mood swings and low blood sugar and kidney failure and death especially in previously undiagnosed children.
I just ate some peanut butter I ground my self at the health food store.

Up late night on the net I figured out that I malabsorb the Fructin in bread, not the gluten.

That had the doctors puzzed for me to have wheat allergy symptoms but a negative intestin biopsy and blood test for antibodies.

Fructin is a polymer of Fructose.

It is a real education.  Fructose piggybacks on Sucruse in a balanced natural fruit like oranges.  But in the stuff I ate it was nearly all fructose and it builds up in your body givng you IBS or serious liver shut down if you have Hereditary Fructose Malabsorbtion like I think I have.

I ate plain yogurt with no sugar.  I have already been through this before the not being able to go out to eat and adjusting in the familly.

I wonder what our forum medical person Sheitle Queen thinks.
Sorry you were sick, and I pray you get better.

You may be helped by plant enzmye tablets they sell at health food stores which will help your body digest the sugar better.
That symptom matrix doesn't help much when the dots are in ALL the columns Lol
I was happy to find the milk thistle is used by doctors in Germany to heal cirrosis of the liver.

However, I also read that since milk thistle is related to artichoke you aren't supposed to have it if you have hereditary Fructose Intolerance.

However, reading moms blogs for their kids you find out that there is no officially backed list of things to eat and it is more about limiting or balanceing the fructose with sucrose and other foods.

I had massive hemroragien when I age 5 grapefruits as a stand alone meal.

That is why this was so tricky. The fruit would get me one time but not another depending on the volume of fructose and if I counterbalanced it with a diverse meal.

One third of Europeans have some degree of Fructose intolarance so this might be behind some people irritable bowel or chronic fatig.

A bad liver is less painful than you would think.  Mine was more like pressure.

I had liver problem signs even a long time ago eyes so red a cop made me blow in his hat but that is how my eyes always looked I thought it was just allergies or whatever and never put it all together.

This is solveing my cocydynia to for some reason.

My insides were all swelled up.
Chad, Shalom.

I presume you have had your Ph checked?  After eating five grapefruits, in one day, you may have driven you metabolism into acidosis.  Just a thought.

Not everyone reading this knows who Haman was.  He was killed for being an egotistical antisemite by impaleing.

The connection being I have rectal spasms in Chow Woman's comment.

As to enzymes it is analagous to people who have to drink lactose free milk.  They can get lactaid that has the enzyme.

If I really have this and they did a liver biopsy they would find no aldolase b enzyme in my liver, the one needed to metabolize Fructose.

I don't think you can get that in the health food store.

As to the acid it is part of it a person does get too acidic when they have Hereditary Fructose Intolerance.

By the way, did you know peptobismols active ingredient is bismoth, a slightly radioacive element (83 on the periodic table) between lead and arsnic.  They don't know why it works.

Immodium is actually opium.

Real life can be stranger than fiction.
The Haman thing is in my signature to celebrate Purim. It's not part per se of this thread.

You are the one, who in a different thread,  brought up your rectal spasms and claimed they were instrumentally prophetic.
To Chow-OK, I take your word for it.  I did think of Haman though with the spasm thing and search my heart for antisemitic feelings.

I am feeling better today.  Anemia can sneak up on you.  I was a long distance runner and have had spooning finger nails for a few years, a sign of anemia I didn't know about.

But today I was really out of breath till I took some multi vitamins and beef livers and chicken liver.

I was wrong, I thought it was prophetic but it was just itching and swelling from the anemia caused by the underlying fructose intolerance.

Even the nail spoon I thought was a sign a tsunami would happen couse it started in 2005 I think.

I admit it, I was wrong.
