The Trinity is absolutely truthful (John 14:6, 17, 17:17), Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). He not only misleads people with lies (Gen. 3) but he also spreads lies about God and His children. Jesus and Paul had to defend themselves against his lies.
Satan soon realized that people easily recognize outright lies, so he put them in the deceptive wrapping of half-truth and fiction. Half-truth looks like the truth but hides a dangerous lie (e.g. "the God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath"). Already in the middle of the first century heretics tried to twist the gospel, and Paul responded strongly against it (Gal. 1:8-9, 2 Cor. 11:13-15).
If Satan can only stimulate a faint sense of doubt he knows he can get his foot in the door (as with Eve). One of his old tricks is to sow doubts about the reliability of God's Word. The Gospel of Judas is an early effort and Da Vinci Code a current one. Strangely, people get more exited about lies and fiction than about the truth and facts.

in the case of the Trinity, I would say it's more of a stumbling block to alot of people because it isnt a way of looking at G-d they may be used to but The Trinity is strongly supported Biblically and Jesus himself said he was a scandelon, a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense
I usually hesistate to use the word lie as I dont know a persons motives, because a lie is something very deliberate
I agree with you, SaberTruthTiger, that there is a difference between (1) inadvertently presentingÊÊfacts incorrectly because of incomplete information, and (2) deliberately lying or distorting facts to serve one’s own purpose. In "truth vs. lies" I’m referring to the second category. People who twist the gospel on purpose are not ill-informed. They are aiming at the heart of Christianity.

SOME PEOPLE DONT WANT TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A SATAN ROAMING THRU THE WORLD SEEKING THE RUIN OF SOULS AND SATAN HIDES HIMSELF AND MAKES USE OF THIS GRAVE ERROR OF MEN. WE NEED TO KEEP A VIGILANT WATCH.

I REMEMBER A PASSAGE FROM AN OLD BIBLE WHICH I NO LONGER POSSESS. I GAVE AWAY. I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER THIS PASSAGE BECAUSE IT CONTRADICTED ANOTHER JESUS PASSAGE. SO I STUDIED AND ASK GOD TO EXPLAIN THE CONTRADICTION AND THE ANSWER CAME TO ME. THE TWO PASSAGES WERE:
" IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN ME, YOU ARE ALREADY CONDEMED FOR NOT BELIEVING ON THE NAME OF GODS ONLY SON."
THE OTHER:
IF YOU BELIEVE IN ME, EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW NOT MY NAME, YOU WILL BE SAVED."
YOU SEE AT FIRST THEY CONTRADICT? THEY DONT. THE STUDY AND THE REVELATION IS THAT THE "NAME" OF JESUS IS MORE THAN JUST A MONIKER. BELIEVING ON THE NAME MEANS TO PRACTICE ACCORDING TO THE GOSPEL ASSOCIATED WITH THE NAME. ONE WHO BELIEVES IN JESUS, LIVES HIS WORD. SO THE FIRST PASSAGE SAYS THAT ONE WHO DOESNT BELIEVE IN THE BENEVOLENT SPIRIT OF YAHWEH IS CONDEMED ALREADY FOR NOT RECOGNIZING YAHWEH IN THE FLESH. THE SECOND PASSAGE SAYS THAT IF JEWS ARE LIVING BY THE BENEVOLENT SPIRIT OF YAHWEH, THEN THEY, (THE ONES HE CAME FOR, OR MAYBE DEAD OR MAYBE THE WORD DIDNT REACH) THEY WOULD BE SAVED BY HIS SACRIFICE EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE NAME JESUS. THEY WERE KEEPING THE COVENANT AND NOT BREAK IT. GOD DIVORCE THE JEWS BUT NOT EVERY LAST ONE. RIGHT? JESUS PICKS UP THE REMNANT AND THE FAITHFUL DEAD BEFORE SEVENTY WEEKS ARE UP. THEY WERE ALL SAVED EVEN IF THEY DIDNT KNOW (INNOCENTLY) THE MONIKER OF THE MESSIAH.

I KEEP LOOKING AND LOOKING AND MY ONLY CONCLUSION THAT I CAN COME AROUND TO IS THAT NON CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS HAVE ALTERED THE BIBLE WHICH SAYS A MAN IS SAVED WITHOUT KNOWING JESUS NAME. THIS IS THE CRUX OF CHRISTIAN CLAIMS. THAT ONE MUST KNOW THE NAME. SO THEY REMOVE WHERE IT SAYS THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO KNOW.
