I have just read Stephen Pacht's 1993 article 'Anti-Semitism in the New Testament' and would like to thank him for his clarificaton.
I came to Christ from the King James Bible and have always loved its' beautiful language. Years later I began searching out other translations.
Not until I purchased The Living Bible did I became aware of William Tyndale (c 1492 - 1536), the British religious reformer, translater, and Martyr. I would like to thank Mr. Pacht with Tyndale's own words taken from the "Prologue to the first printed English New Testament".
"I...exhortynge instantly and besechynge those that are better sene in the tongues than I , ... to consider and ponder my labor, .... And if they perceive in any places that I have not attained the very sense of the tongue, or meaning of the Scripture, or have not given the right English word, that they put to their hands to amend it, .... For we have not received the gifts of God for ourselves only, or for to hide them; but for to bestow them unto the hororing of God and Christ and edifying of the congregation, which is the body of Christ."
I would like to leave you with another quote from John (16:30) Jesus is speaking: "... I have told you all this so that you may find peace in Me. In the world you will find trouble, but be brave: I have conquered the world."
