After looking at Pat Oliphants pulitzer prize cartoon (1967), I see that his primary focus may be the loss of innocent life, also the lives of the younger and older set.
Cartoonist are good at that- showing the senselessness of killing,
and the tradgedy of war. Were there not people upset at war, would there ever be orders or agreements to cease fire?
Propaganda and the actual facts of the news can be misinterpreted
in such a way that portions of all the pertinent facts are sacrificd to make a moral point for all concerned, not deciding who is right or wrong.
In the case of the cartoon recently criticized by Jewish anti-defamtion
advocates, I believe the same cartoon has been incorrect in it's depiction of Israel weilding it's power with deliberate intention to destroy the innocent along with the terrorist.
The koran is explicit if read correctly (at least the way I read it). That if
the unbeleieving convert to Islam desires peace, then to oblige. Hamas has made it plain by the launching of rockets willy nilly into Israel killing and injuring innocent civilians that their intention is to displace Israel as a sovereign self governing nation.
