Does anyone in here believe a man builted an arch big enough to fit all the species of earth (2 of each kind) aggregating all of the animals from the 4 corners of the world and keeping them in order for several days (considering how long they'd go without food and how a deer will look extremely delicious on a feline's eyes)?
If this ain't symbolism I personally don't believe it.
Leave thoughts.
You are right; it wasn't big enough, but God caused a miracle to happen and the animals were able to be contained in the ark.
I believe that Noah made an ark and that it was big enough to hold 2 pairs of the unclean animals and 7 pairs of the clean animals for a year. The Flood was worldwide, with no survivors on earth except those animals and 8 people in the ark. It was not symbolic, any more than we are symbolic creatures.
The Bible does not say anything about animals eating each other until after the Flood, so there was no problem with felines eating deer on the ark. It is entirely possible that the animals slept most of the year aboard the ark, anyway.
The word is Ark, not Arch. It happened, it wasn't symbolism. The Word of God given to the Jewish people is true Truth.

I can't re-edit my post but thanks for correcting.
I still don't believe it.
I believe that Noah build an ark and accommodated pair of all species of animals living on land. Most amazing thing is that animals obeyed but the men didnot repent even after seeing the animals entering the ark.Same thing happens today. There is an escape route to escape the corruption of this world, that is through Jesus Chirst. This world is going to be destroyed. The ark is there with the doors open. That ark is Jesus Christ.

Well, Rabbi Yisroel, that is an improvement on primogenit's unbelief. However, I believe that the ark was simply big enough. A cubit is roughly a half meter, so the ark had the volume of about 56,250 cubic meters. Noah most surely took baby animals and you can fit quite a few yearling dogs or sheep in a cubic meter, and also larger animals will not take up more than a cubic meter. So, it seems that with space for food available, Noah could have easily taken 50,000 animals with him, perhaps 100,000, and that would be adequate for the variety of land animals we have today plus those that have become extinct, like dinosaurs. (Baby dinosaurs were quite small, as we can tell from the eggs that have been found.) Many types of animals like foxes could have descended from the original two pairs of dogs, and a similar thing goes for bears and camels. They probably all hibernated, or estivated, during the year.
They use water to cut steel today to build carriers/subs 5 football fields long.
We have sent men to the moon and back.
A big boat in the ocean carrying all the animals doesn't seem like a fairy tale to me. It is God's word.

RE:
You're aware that according to that theory only through incest humankind was able to carry on.
Plus for a pair of all the animals of this earth to coexist in the same place all at once you don't need an ark but at least a 100th floor building.
So your arguements don't convince me. I once believed in fairy tales. Not anymore.

Hey, I have to mention aquatic species here! no need for an ark in their case...LOL and maybe it is not known to most but many insect and bird species lay eggs! And I bet they could be rendered dormant! I have seen frog eggs that are encased in foamy cocoon(natural ark!) and when the water of the spring rains hit them they spring to life! maybe just maybe the whole of the species that needed saving were the mammals..that give live birth! Although some mention of the raven and the dove in the ark are interesting...I guess it is the resting spot not a nesting spot.
I don't doubt the flood or the ark. I just tend to incorporate the resources inside the species themselves..too. Doesn't ever get discussed if all the species of fish/sea mammals and all else aquatic were destroyed...but seems they could have been preserved because of their watery nature...to me it is just as big a miracle...because they were made that way in the beginning!
bye for now
