Full Version: Re-discovering the Resurrection

QUESTION:

Does the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as defined in all the Scriptures ("beginning with the books of Moses and the writings of all the prophets", Luke 24: 25-27) allow for a 3-day intervening burial before entering his glory?
IMO, it does not make any matter, if anyone else thought, spoke, or wrote anything about the 3-day's in the crypt.  Jesus said what would happen, as He would also give up His own life, and bring himself back to life.  Jesus, through His teaching, witnessed to His own power to do exactly what He prophesied, including exactly how long He would be in the grave.

I would do a search, for more information to relate to, but the hard drive I have all my e-sword files and Faith files on, crashed about three hours ago, and I have to attempt a recovery/resurrection, before I can regain access.  (I sure do hate loosing 15Gb of commentaries, and teachings)  Oh Well.  

I am off to resurrect my hard drive......Pray I succeed.

"Particularly firm is their doctrine of Resurrection; they believe that the flesh will rise again and then be immortal like the soul, which, they say, when separated from the body, enters a place of fragrant air and radiant light, there to enjoy rest-a place called by the Greeks who heard [of this doctrine] the 'Isles of the Blest.' But," continues the writer, in a passage characteristically omitted by Josephus, "there are other doctrines besides, which many Greeks have appropriated and given out as their own opinions. For their disciplinary life [ἄóźēóéņ] in connection with the things divine is of greater antiquity than that of any other nation, so that it can be shown that all those who made assertions concerning God and Creation derived their principles from no other source than the Jewish legislation. If Jesus Christ was overcome by death on the cross and in the grave (3 days) before his resurrection, he can neither be called "Son of the living God", i.e., immortal, characterized by life of unending existence; nor accepted as true to his word ("ever" as used in Matt. 16:18); nor attributed victory in his death over the Devil and deaath (Heb. 2:14).

Therefore, our understanding of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (which seems to have undergone serious corruption in post-Apostolic times) requires fine-drawing with the relevant teachings in the gospel, the books of Moses, the writings of the prophets and the witness of the Apostles.

Otherwise, many of us will stand to lose for good the opportunity to experience firsthand the awesome life-transforming power involved in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross --the one-stop ministry for the all-inclusive, firsthand and personal knowledge of God by baptism in the Holy Spirit as signed, sealed and delivered under the "new covenant" (Jer. 31: 31-34; Matt. 26: 26-29 ff; 1 Cor. 2: 1-5; Phil. 3: 10-11.).

[color=green]What about all the altruistic language, in general, Jesus used about himself (Phil. 2: 5-11); and clear undervaluing of the claims about himself, in particular (John 5:31)?

Two questions:
1) Does not the Scriptural context referred to in connection with the resurrection (Luke 24: 25-27 and John 20:9) originate from the interface between GOD'S LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT and absolutely USELESS MATTER  or FLESH (John 6: 62-63) first seen in the "flame coming from the middle of the middle of the bush ... on fire but ... not burning up", i.e., self-sufficient fire, as revelatory expression of "[color=red]
[/color]" --the God of the living (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) and culminating in the "death of Jesus Christ on the cross", i.e., diacritical death of self-sufficient life?

2) If so, isn't the resurrection of Jesus Christ exact equivalent to the consummation of the terms of the "new covenant" (Jer. 31: 31-34) in which all will have an open vision-based firsthand and personal knowledge of God to be known for ever by the name of "I Am Who I Am" (Ex. 3: 14-15; John 8: 21-28)?
